Implementation of a Low Cost Interfering Signal Cancellation Approach Based on a Fast Power Minimization Technique Using Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm

2020
Generally, an adaptive array is utilized in combination with multitude of mixers, LOs and ADC circuits to identify the angle of arrival of a jamming signal. Then the weights of the adaptive array elements are adjusted to null a jamming signal. Alternatively, the received RF power is combined first and then rectified using a rectifying diode; then an inexpensive ADC circuit is utilized to monitor the power level and control the weighting blocks of the utilized array accordingly based on an efficient power minimization algorithm. Here, a particle swarm optimization technique is successfully used to search for optimum adaptive array weights and effectively place a null in the direction of the jamming signal with significantly low number of iterations. Results indicate better than 35 dB unwanted signal reduction.
