In the title compound, C(13)H(10)S(2)Te, the dibenzothio-phene moiety is almost planar, the maximum atomic deviation being 0.055 (5) Å. The two Te-C bonds are nearly perpen-dicular to each other with a C-Te-C bond angle of 93.0 (2)°. An inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-action is present between the methyl-ene group and thio-phene ring.

CH⋅⋅⋅π Interaction‐Modulated Solid‐State Packing and Carrier Mobility in Thienyl and Thieno[3,2‐b]Thienyl End‐Capped Distyrylarylene Derivatives

Research on structure-property relationships in distyrylarylene derivatives is far behind their wide applications in optoelectronic devices due to the absence of crystal structure information. Herein, the single crystals of 4,4'-bis(2-thienylvinyl)biphenyl (1) and 4,4'-bis(2-thieno[3,2-b]thienylvinyl)biphenyl (2) were successfully grown by the vapor transport method. Both molecules adopt the typical herringbone packing motif. However, the intermolecular C-H⋅⋅⋅π interaction in compound 2 is much stronger than that in compound 1. The correlations of interchain interaction with film morphology, optical and electronic properties were studied. Compound 2 formed higher crystalline films with (001) and (111) orientations. The organic field-effect transistor properties of both materials were investigated. Compound 2 showed better performance with a hole mobility higher than 0.01 cm(2) V(-1) s(-1) and an on/off current ratio over 10(6) . These results reveal that the intensity of C-H⋅⋅⋅π interactions can exert dramatic influences on the optical and electronic properties of distyrylarylene-based materials.

TiO₂/PANI/Graphene–PVA Hydrogel for Recyclable and Highly Efficient Photo-Electrocatalysts

In this paper, TiO2/PANI/graphene–PVA hydrogel (TPGH) is fabricated by combining TiO2/PANI/graphene powder with poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogel. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra, and photocurrent patterns indicated that TiO2/PANI/graphene had an excellent photoelectrical response because the introduction of polyaniline (PANI) into the TiO2 system can promote the separation of photogenerated electrons and holes. Meanwhile, graphene can be used as an acceptor for photogenerated electrons in composites and can prevent carrier recombination and increase charge transfer. This hydrogel exhibits recyclability and excellent photo-electrocatalysis properties, which is attributed to the excellent photoelectric response properties of TiO2/PANI/graphene. The hydrogels with the best photocatalytic performance can degrade methyl orange and RhB more than 98% within 60 min and bisphenol A more than 97% within 150 min. Moreover, 88% degradation rate remained after five cycles for hydrogels, which indicated that the hydrogels had good cycling performance. The findings provide a new strategy for the construction of TiO2/PANI/graphene photocatalysts and pave an alternative way to the design and synthesis of recyclable hydrogel photocatalysts.

Pyrene Derivate Functionalized with Acetylene for Organic Field Effect Transistors

A new X-shaped compound (SiPy) functionalized with acetylene bonds in the 1-, 3-, 6-, and 8-positions of the pyrene core has been synthesized by Sonogashira coupling reactions. Its photophysical, thermal, and organic field effect transistor (OFET) properties as well as the film morphologies have been investigated. SiPy exhibits high stability which is evidenced by thermal gravimetric analysis. The atomic force microscopy images reveal that the morphology of thin films depends on the substrate temperature. The film OFET devices based on SiPy were constructed and exhibited p-type performances.
