It is shown that in the limit of stability the noise figure of common-base transistor mixers with HF feedback from the output is equal to the noise figure of the corresponding HF amplifier. A very substantial improvement in noise figure can be obtained by this type of feedback.
In order to observe the influences of ATP on the bone marrow leukopoiesis, clinical tissue culture of bone marrow from normal rabbits, normal persons and patients with hypoplastic anemia was conducted. ATP solutions at various concentrations were added directly to the culture media and observations were carried out to see effect of ATP on the functions of neutrophils of bone marrow.As a result, it has been demonstrated that by adding an optimal amount of ATP the ontgrowth, cell density and wandering velosity of neutrophils were increased.
The electrical impedance in the vagina (EIV) is significantly high in the proestrus stage compared with other stages of the estrous cycle in rats. Therefore, the EIV can be used to detect the optimum day for mating. The relation between the EIV and the conditions of the epithelial cell layer of vaginal mucosa were investigated. The EIV was at a high level (over 3, 000Ω) in vaginas in the proestrus stage in either intact or excised vaginal mucus. But it decrease (under 3, 000Ω) after the epithelium of the vaginal mucosa was removed. The EIV of ovariectomized rats was low, but increased after Estradiol administration. The cornification of the epithelial cell layer of the vaginal mucosa occurred concurrently with the high EIV in the proestrus stage and after Estradiol administration. This indicates that the cornification of the epithelial cell layer of the vaginal mucosa may cause the elevation of EIV in the proestrus stage, the optimum day for mating in the rats.
We conducted a prospective randomized study to investigate the effect of daikenchuto (DKT) on abdominal symptoms following laparoscopic colectomy in patients with left-sided colon cancer. Patients who suffered from abdominal pain or distention on postoperative day 1 were randomized to either the DKT group or non-DKT group. The primary endpoints were the evaluation of abdominal pain, abdominal distention, and quality of life. The metabolome and gut microbiome analyses were conducted as secondary endpoints. A total of 17 patients were enrolled: 8 patients in the DKT group and 9 patients in the non-DKT group. There were no significant differences in the primary endpoints and postoperative adverse events between the two groups. The metabolome and gut microbiome analyses showed that the levels of plasma lipid mediators associated with the arachidonic acid cascade were lower in the DKT group than in the non-DKT group, and that the relative abundance of genera Serratia and Bilophila were lower in the DKT group than in the non-DKT group. DKT administration did not improve the abdominal symptoms following laparoscopic colectomy. The effects of DKT on metabolites and gut microbiome have to be further investigated.
Measurement of flow velocity distribution around a marine propeller was carried out by Laser Doppler Velocimeter (LDV) in a cavitation tunnel. An LDV measurement system which can supply both velocity data and measuring position data relative to the blade was developed, and the information about instantaneous velocity distribution around propeller blades was obtained. Authors succeeded in revealing the vortex system around propeller blades. The effect of a strong vortex extending from blade tip was recognized in the measured velocity data. Accelerated and contracted flow behind blades was also observed. Thrust and torque estimated from velocity distribution in slip stream were compared with direct measurement results. Comparison between experimental results and lifting surface theory shows that the existence of strong tip vortices shown by the experiment can not be followed by the theory. It is necessary to investigate a separated flow in the region near the blade tip, in order to improve the theoretical method.
