Running title: Role of aldehyde dehydrogenase in stallion spermatozoa. Summary sentence: Aldehyde dehydrogenase is the enzyme responsible for the removal of 4- hydroxynonenal adducts from lipid membranes. Measurement of aldehyde dehydrogenase levels in spermatozoa provides insight into the antioxidant defences of stallion spermatozoa.
