Abstract : Effect of the preparation conditions on properties of Mx0y/S042- type of solid superacid and the ef-fect of catalysis in esterification reactions are discussed, the advantages and defects of the catalysts MxOy/ S042 ~ solid superacid in esterification reactions are analysed. It is pointed out that composite superacid catalysts will be the main direction.

Solid superacid SO42-/SnO2 was modified by Co via impregnation and deposition method.The catalytic performance of the prepared superacid catalyst was evaluated by esterification of acetic acid and n-butanol,The results showed the existence of Co significantly improved the catalytic activity of solid superacid,when calcining temperature was 500℃,the catalyst had the highest activity.Furthermore,the physicochemical properties of the materials were characterized by FT IR,XRD,and TG-DTA.

Solid superacids have been widely studied as catalysts for the synthesis of esters in recent years. The merits of solid superacids are notable as esterification catalysts to substitute concentrated sulfuric acid. In this paper, the use and research status of solid superacid catalysts in the synthesis of esters and the progress in the research of pillared interlayer clay catalysts and clay solid superacid catalysts prepared by meliorating PILC catalysts were introduced.

This paper compares FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) and contact angle measurements to characterize surface properties of the oxidized coals with different ash contents. FTIR analysis was employed to investigate functional chemical groups of the oxidized coals. Contact angle measurements were utilized to characterize the hydrophilicity of the oxidized coal. The results showed that contact angle measurements were the same regarding of the type of the oxidized coal. However, FTIR results show that the coal samples with lower ash content had more hydrophobic groups and less hydrophilic groups than the coal samples with higher ash content. This paper demonstrated that FTIR technique is more sensitive than contact angle measurements in studying surface properties of oxidized coal samples.

SO2-4/Al2O3 superacid catalyst was prepared using γ-Al2O3 as the carrier and H2SO4 aqueous solution as the impregnation liquid.The preparation conditions were studied by orthogonal experiments and the dominant influencing factors of the acid properties of SO2-4/Al2O3 superacid catalyst were found out.

The catalytic esterification for preparing ethyl p - hydroxybenzonate with special superacid is described. The special superacid is synthesized and the conditions of esterification are investigated. It showed that the special superacid SO42- /α- Fe2O3 is an excellent catalyst,the yield of ethyl p- hydroxybenzonate can reach 84.3 % under ratio of ethyl alcohol and p- hydroxybenzoic acid 3:1, reation time of 4 hour and amount of catalyst of 9.06 %, which exceeds general solid superacid catalyst.
