Forensic sciences have its past history of over 300 years. First forensic lab was created in Los Angeles by police department. Forensic have shown its development in the recent past years for its outstanding innovation of detection in mysterious cyber crimes, and several cases. Forensic sciences possess the new idea developments time to time, for example Bite-mark analysis, the recent innovation in forensic sciences up to date. The present review focuses on different cases of forensic tools in different, especially Forensic Odontology in cyber crimes, discussion shortly, new outcomes and major conclusion.

Background: Dental forensics is an area of dental research and knowledge in which students receive limited exposure.The purpose of this research was to evaluate dental student knowledge about dental forensics and to evaluate dental student skills in comparing radiographs.Methods: Dental students (N=152) were provided 10 radiographs of extracted teeth.One of the radiographed teeth was heat-altered to 600 °C for 15 minutes.The students were asked to match the heat-altered tooth's radiograph to one of the 10 radiographs.A 10-question survey concerning dental forensics was also presented to the students.Results: There were 92.1% of dental students who were able to correctly identify a heataltered tooth's radiograph from the 10 radiographs provided.Of the 10 questions provided, 5 had a correct response rate above 70%. Conclusion:Dental students were successful in matching a dental radiograph of a heataltered tooth and its original radiograph.However, there is a need for current and emerging information about dental forensics.

Forensic dentistry or dental jurisprudence may be defined as the application of dental sciences to the administration of law. Forensic dentistry includes studying a lot of topics such as individual identification, mass identification, as well as bite mark analysis. Forensic odontology has gained more importance in western countries and is considered as reliable evidence in solving criminal cases. With increasing crime in India, as given by the National Crime Records Bureau over 6.4% each year, the numbers of studies are assessing the utilization of forensic odontological findings in solving criminal cases in India. A retrospective study was done in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu in December 2018. A well-structured, pre-tested performa was adopted from the study conducted by Senthil et al in the year 2012 and modification was done. After explaining the intent of the study, permission was obtained from the Director of forensic sciences department Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. Secondary data regarding the use of forensic odontological findings in solving criminal cases were collected from 2987 cases. The data were then entered into the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. Descriptive statistics were done using SPSS software (version 20). There were only 3 cases that have been solved using forensic odontology findings. Only antemortem and post-mortem reports were used in these cases. The duration of data relied upon was 1 to 3 years from the investigation. The victim's dentist was identified from the victim's relatives. The findings of the current study show under-utilization of forensic odontological findings in the investigation of the criminal case.

Background Crime rate has been reported to rise drastically from the year 2017-2019 according to police sources.Forensic odontology is a branch of forensic science which helps in investigating and identification of corpses found in natural disasters and homicide conditions.New developments on technology have made milestone achievements in various fields, likewise even in forensic medicine and forensic odontology the new developments have broken the lab controlled limitation by creating scientific measurements, improving efficacy of the judicial system.Aim: This study aims to determine the awareness about newer technologies over the field of forensic science and odontology among healthcare workers and medical experts.Materials and methods: A set of self evaluable questions were prepared, validated by the principal investigator and guide.The questionnaire was approved by the institutional review board, saveetha dental college, chennai.The questionnaire prepared was then circulated among the healthcare workers and medical experts in the south indian population.The response data was collected, documented and tabulated.The data was analysed using SPSS statistics and results obtained.Results and discussion: The percentage distribution of the selected population based on the awareness questions asked were analysed and tabulated.The correlation between their years of practice and their awareness were studied.The statistics from previous studies were compared with the present study findings to enhance the quality of our findings.Conclusion: There exists a significant level of awareness among the healthcare workers and medical experts.The participants with 0-5 years of practice showed maximum level of awareness and their associations were found to be statistically significant.(p<0.05).Many awareness camps should be held and conducted to increase the knowledge about the recent advances in technologies in the field of forensic sciences and odontology.
