Healthcare-associated Clostridium difficile infection (HA-CDI) continues to pose a serious threat to healthcare environments across the globe. To reduce the pathogen's spread, effective control measures are necessary. Educating patients and healthcare professionals on the need of hand cleanliness is a crucial component of prevention. The critical significance that good hand hygiene plays in cross-infection prevention to avoid HA-CDI is examined in this research. It looks at the most effective methods, obstacles, and tactics for encouraging hand hygiene compliance in hospital settings. As a key component of HA-CDI prevention measures, the assessment emphasizes the critical necessity for extensive hand hygiene programs.

Patients undergoing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) are at increased risk of infection. We present the first known report of nosocomial infection with Cupriavidus pauculus attributable to contamination from ECMO equipment and describe the measures taken to halt subsequent infections. A cluster of infections in ECMO patients should prompt team members to consider contamination of equipment with environmental pathogens as a possible cause.

The problems of nosocomial infections include cross infections from the environments to patients in the wards and infections from virus-contaminated bloods into medical staffs by mainly needle stick injury. The infection control committees organized in Hokkaido University Hospital in 1981 for HBV infection, in 1992 for MRSA and HIV infections, provide adequate and urgent advice to all the medical staffs to prevent the spread of cross infections and to prevent the contaminations of blood-borne viruses. In this report, the present status of nosocomial infections especially the opportunistic infections in compromised hosts and the role of infection control committees were discussed.

Considering the JCI standards and reality of the hospital,the hospital's infection-control department screened the indices for monitoring nosocomial infection,and determined the emphasis of preventing and controlling infection by means based on risk control.The department significantly rectified key work flows in light of the monitoring data.Through the continuous improvement,nosocomial infection rate decreased.
