    Human activity, not environmental factors, drives Scedosporium and Lomentospora distribution in Taiwan

    Abstract:
    Abstract Scedosporium and Lomentospora species are emerging fungal pathogens capable of causing severe infections in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised individuals. Previous environmental surveys have suggested potential associations between these fungi and various soil chemical parameters, though the relative influence of human activity versus environmental factors has not been systematically evaluated. Here, we conducted a comprehensive survey of 406 soil samples from 132 locations across Taiwan, analyzing fungal abundance alongside soil physicochemical parameters and the Human Footprint Index (HFI). We recovered 236 fungal isolates comprising 10 species, with S. boydii (32.2%), S. apiospermum (30.9%), and S. dehoogii (14.4%) being the most prevalent. The highest fungal burdens were observed in urban environments (up to 1293 CFU/g), particularly in public spaces and healthcare facilities. Statistical analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between fungal abundance and HFI (r = 0.125, p = 0.013), while soil chemical parameters including nitrogen, carbon, pH, electrical conductivity, and various base cations showed no significant associations despite their wide ranges. These findings indicate that anthropogenic disturbance of environments, rather than soil chemistry, is the primary driver of Scedosporium and Lomentospora distribution in Taiwan. This understanding holds important implications for predicting infection risks and developing targeted public health strategies, particularly in rapidly urbanizing regions. Future studies incorporating more specific indicators of human impact may further elucidate the mechanisms underlying these distribution patterns. Lay Abstract We found that human activities, rather than soil properties, determine where Scedosporium / Lomentospora fungi distribute in Taiwan. These fungi are more abundant in urban areas than less-human-disturbed environments, suggesting increased infection risks in densely populated regions.
    The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of corporate social responsibility (hereafter referred to as CSR) activities of lodging companies, especially Jeju lodging companies, on management performance. Companies such as large companies, listed companies and financial companies are active in CSR, however, lodging companies are relatively less interested in CSR. Research related to CSR is also insufficient for lodging companies compared to other companies. This study analyzed the impact of CSR activities on management performance of lodging companies, which are subject to external audit from 2000 to 2019. The result of analysis shows that CSR activities of lodging companies have a positive impact on management performance. The CSR activities of Jeju lodging companies do not have a relatively positive impact on their management performance. It is meaningful that it studied the CSR activities of Jeju lodging companies, which occupy an important weight in the domestic tourism and lodging industry. It is expected that this research will raise the social interest in the CSR activities of lodging companies and to carry out more active CSR activities.
    Distribution research was an important field of research in Germany especially in the 1920s and 50s. After that, the major research interests in the area of marketing and internal trade shifted to other topics. Retailing and wholesaling institutions became more powerful and new technologies supporting physical distribution activities began to attract researchers to deal with distribution problems. Distribution as treated in this synopsis covers the areas of retailing, wholesaling, industrial selling and physical distribution.

The presence of many public catering enterprises on the market forms a high level of competition in this area of economic activity, where recently attention has been focused on environmental factors. In this regard, the development and implementation of an enterprise development strategy is the most important condition for increasing the efficiency of its activities, competitiveness, and sustainability of industrial catering companies.

Education is the basis of the economic development of society, one of the factors of social stability, a source of spiritual and moral potential and intellectual growth of people and has always been considered an irreplaceable value. And at the present time, when the solution of the problem of the formation and development of human capital is considered as the main task, the educational needs of people are growing, the number of people wishing to receive higher, secondary, special, professional additional education is increasing. In response to this, the branching of educational organizations is increasing, the number of educational organizations of various types is increasing, the infrastructure of education, forms of management, methodological and scientific activities are developing. Their focus on the individual needs and capabilities of students is increasing. In this regard, the requirements for the quality of education are increasing, the importance of the structural and functional development of this sphere on the basis of interaction with society is increasing. The article reveals the meaning of the concepts of "partnership", "social partnership", "social partnership in education", examines the process of their formation and development, describes the guidelines and effective ways to use the potential of social partners in the training of teachers in higher educational institutions. In this paper, quantitative research was carried out by collecting random sample data from 276 respondents working in Indonesian halal meat industries and suppliers. Inter-correlation analysis using SmartPLS is used to determine the extent to which employees' readiness to adopt technology in halal meat retailing and manufacturing industries, as well as the quality of halal service suppliers, affects the performance of halal logistics. The results of this study indicate that the performance of halal logistics is significantly influenced by the readiness of the use of technology in the retail halal meat industry and the quality of halal service suppliers. Meanwhile, the moderate influence occurs in the relationship between the technology readiness in the halal meat manufacturing sector and the performance of halal logistics.

    The retailers network with e-supplying system can be main sales channel for small local and regional producers and their supply chain. Small producers and retailers network supply chains integration based on modern supply chain management systems (SCM) reduce cost of coordination, increase efficiency and effectiveness of logistics and retail, and create long-term mutual benefit relationship between small producers and retailers in logistics and retailing, branding and their impact on sustain development of rural regions and tourism.

    This paper presents a part of a larger study in the perspective of halal food logistics (HFL) towards halal food & beverages (FB logistics service providers (LSPs) that offering HFL services and the halal product's manufacturers, mainly from small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Some of the challenges were identified such as the complex management of warehousing and terminals, the lack of trust and knowledge, perceived risk, and others that related to the halal matters.
