    Investigating the Future of Freight Transport Low Carbon Technologies Market Acceptance across Different Regions

    Abstract:
    Fighting climate change has become a major task worldwide. One of the key energy sectors to emit greenhouse gases is transportation. Therefore, long term strategies all over the world have been set up to reduce on-road combustion emissions. In this context, the road freight sector faces significant challenges in decarbonization, driven by its limited availability of low-emission fuels and commercialized zero-emission vehicles compared with its high energy demand. In this work, we develop the Mobility and Energy Transportation Analysis (META) Model, a python-based optimization model to quantify the impact of transportation projected policies on freight transport by projecting conventional and alternative fuel technologies market acceptance as well as greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Along with introducing e-fuels as an alternative refueling option for conventional vehicles, META investigates the market opportunities of Mobile Carbon Capture (MCC) until 2050. To accurately assess this technology, a techno-economic analysis is essential to compare MCC abatement cost to alternative decarbonization technologies such as electric trucks. The novelty of this work comes from the detailed cost categories taken into consideration in the analysis, including intangible costs associated with heavy-duty technologies, such as recharging/refueling time, cargo capacity limitations, and consumer acceptance towards emerging technologies across different regions. Based on the study results, the competitive total cost of ownership (TCO) and marginal abatement cost (MAC) values of MCC make it an economically promising alternative option to decarbonize the freight transport sector. Both in the KSA and EU, MCC options could reach greater than 50% market shares of all ICE vehicle sales, equivalent to a combined 35% of all new sales shares by 2035.
    For many decades, transportation planners have been concerned with the study of highway capacity in order to keep the operation of existing roads and the design and construction of new roads functional with the consideration of the high number of vehicles that use them. The problems associated with costly major highways, especially in urban areas, greatly increases the need for better street and highway capacity information in order to increase efficient use of old and new facilities. The Highway Capacity Manual, published in 1965, emphasizes capacity aspects of freeways and special problems that need to be included such as weaving sections and ramp terminals. The manual also reviews other highway types such as urban arterials, downtown streets, rural multilane and two-lane roads, at-grade intersections, and bus transit operations. This article reviews the Highway Capacity Manual in detail by chapter and covers definitions, traffic characteristics, capacity and level of service, capacity and service volumes, at-grade intersections, weaving, ramps, freeways and other expressways, streets and highways without access control, and bus transit.

    It is evident that traffic safety on typical rural roads is on average much better than on motorways. In Germany, there are two special types of high-standard rural roads: (1) b2s which has additional multipurpose lanes on both sides which can be used temporarily by slower vehicles; by pedestrians, cyclists or moped riders; for emergency stops; and for service and maintenance vehicles, and (2) b2y which has no separate multipurpose lanes but its roadway is composed of two overwide lanes. These two types belong to the group of so-called intermediate cross-section roads whose capacity and level of service lies above typical rural roads but below those of the most narrow type of motorways. This paper is an extract from a detailed full-scale accident analysis, and it presents a safety evaluation for road types b2s and b2y. The accident features on these types of roads are also compared with those of typical rural roads and those on motorways to show interrelations between these types concerning traffic safety under different road and traffic conditions.

    The shift away from the use of a single mode of transportation for a shipment in favor of an intermodal approach is an important trend in contemporary freight transportation. One interesting aspect of the shift of truck traffic to railroad intermodal service is the corresponding impact on highway safety. Every highway trailer shifted to intermodal service represents a change in. combination truck traffic patterns on the highway system, as do intermodal services which capture new business before it ever reaches the highway system. The goal of this study was to identify potential. implications of intermodal transportation on highway safety. The research specifically attempts to quantify the effect of rail-highway intermodalism on truck vehicle-miles of travel and to assess the resulting effects on highway accidents. Impacts are calculated for the years 1992-1993 and, to aid policy decisions, for the year 2010.

Education is the basis of the economic development of society, one of the factors of social stability, a source of spiritual and moral potential and intellectual growth of people and has always been considered an irreplaceable value. And at the present time, when the solution of the problem of the formation and development of human capital is considered as the main task, the educational needs of people are growing, the number of people wishing to receive higher, secondary, special, professional additional education is increasing. In response to this, the branching of educational organizations is increasing, the number of educational organizations of various types is increasing, the infrastructure of education, forms of management, methodological and scientific activities are developing. Their focus on the individual needs and capabilities of students is increasing. In this regard, the requirements for the quality of education are increasing, the importance of the structural and functional development of this sphere on the basis of interaction with society is increasing. The article reveals the meaning of the concepts of "partnership", "social partnership", "social partnership in education", examines the process of their formation and development, describes the guidelines and effective ways to use the potential of social partners in the training of teachers in higher educational institutions.     In recent years, many traffic engineers have advocated converting four-lane undivided urban streets to three-lane two-way left-turn facilities. A number of these conversions have been successfully implemented. Accident rates have decreased while corridor and intersection levels of service remained acceptable. This conversion concept is yet another viable alternative tool to place in our urban safety/congestion toolbox.

    This paper presents a part of a larger study in the perspective of halal food logistics (HFL) towards halal food & beverages (FB logistics service providers (LSPs) that offering HFL services and the halal product's manufacturers, mainly from small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Some of the challenges were identified such as the complex management of warehousing and terminals, the lack of trust and knowledge, perceived risk, and others that related to the halal matters.
