Abstract:
With the development of Marine economy, underwater acoustic sensor networks (UASNs), as an important means to acquire Marine information, will be more and more important. The design of efficient and reliable routing protocols to improve UASNs' performance has become a current research focus. In this paper, we propose a clustering guiding-network based routing (CGNBR) protocol for large scale UASNs, where K-Means clustering algorithm is used to improve the existing opportunity routing protocol's guiding-network transmission mechanism. After clustering the guiding-network, when the network is abnormal, it only needs to rebuild the failed guiding-network cluster instead of the entire guiding-network, which can reduce the transmission delay and energy consumption caused by the network rebuilding. The cluster head node is responsible for the packet transmission when the cluster is abnormal, which reduces the transmission delay and improves the packet delivery ratio. Simulation results show that the proposed CGNBR method can reduce transmission delay and network energy consumption, while improving the packet delivery ratio. Keywords:

In the Wireless Sensor Network, the routing protocol is a major issue. In this paper we discuss the contents of three routing protocol of WSN i.e. Location-based routing protocol, Data-centric routing protocol and lastly Hierarchical routing protocol in short and later we will compare these protocols based on some parameters.

Energy-efficient routing protocol is a key issue in designing a wireless sensor network. The AODV is a routing protocol that depends only on hopcount number, but not on energy and power [1]. This leads to central nodes' exhaustion of energy and influences the entire network lifetime. In this paper, we propose a new power control mechanism in combination with routing protocol improved from the AODV. The proposed protocol is named as the Power-Control Combined with Routing Protocol (PRP for short). Simulation results show that the lifetime and energy of the networks deployed our protocol outperform than that obtained by the AODV protocol.

This paper proposes a new protocol CDS, which is based on modification of DSR routing protocol. CDS routing protocol leverages on collaboration to optimize bottleneck and improve the whole performance of transmission path. The simulation result of NS2 indicates that CDS routing protocol outperforms DSR and full path collaborative routing protocol.

In this paper, we propose a method of constructing a virtual coordinate system (ABVCap) in wireless sensor networks where location information is not available. A routing protocol based on ABVCap virtual coordinates is also introduced. Our routing protocol guarantees packet delivery and does not require computing and storing of the global topological features. Using simulations, we evaluate the performance of the proposed routing protocol (ABVCap routing), the greedy routing protocol based on VCap virtual coordinates (VCap routing), the greedy routing protocol based on physical coordinates (Euclidean routing), greedy perimeter stateless routing (GPSR routing), and geometric spanner routing (GSR routing). The simulations show that our method guarantees packet delivery while ensuring moderate routing path length overhead costs.

In this work, we propose a new routing protocol-the small-world routing protocol. With the idea originating from the small-world theory, the proposed protocol finds paths between the queries and events through recurrent propagations of weak and strong links. The operation of the protocol is simple and does not require much computational power. We evaluate the performance of the proposed protocol through extensive simulations. The results indicate that the proposed protocol, when compared to rumor routing protocol, can find much shorter paths (and thus lower power consumption during data delivery) with much higher successful rate.

A wireless sensor network has unidirectional links because sensors can have different transmission ranges, sensors have unstable transmission ranges, and a hidden terminal problem exists. In this paper, we introduce a virtual coordinate assignment protocol (ABVCap_Uni) to assign virtual coordinates to nodes that have no geographic information in wireless sensor networks with unidirectional links, and we propose a routing protocol based on the ABVCap_Uni virtual coordinates. Our routing protocol guarantees packet delivery without computation and storage of global topology features in a discrete domain. Using simulation, we evaluate the performance of the proposed routing protocol (ABVCap_Uni routing), the greedy landmark- descent routing protocol (GLDR+VLM routing), and the greedy routing protocol based on physical coordinates (Euclidean routing). The simulations demonstrate that our routing protocol ensures moderate routing path length cost overhead.
