A Fast Near-Field 3D Imaging Method for Single-Frequency MIMO Arc Array Radar

Abstract:
Multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) arc array radar is a novel radar, which can obtain higher azimuth resolution and richer multi-angle information of targets with fewer array elements. However, the imaging efficiency of traditional wideband MIMO arc array radar is limited by the large amount of echo data. Single-frequency MIMO arc array radar has less echo data and the potential for efficient imaging, but the existing imaging algorithms cannot meet the requirements of practical applications. In this paper, we propose a fast 3D imaging method for near-field targets based on single-frequency MIMO arc array radar. After performing geometry-conversion compensation and matched filtering on the echo signal, the proposed method projects the echo spectrum into the image space, to reconstruct the 3D image of near-field targets. The advantages of the proposed method are low computational complexity and high imaging efficiency. Numerical simulation verifies the imaging performance of the proposed method.Keywords:

Two dimensional phased array radar can scan electronically in two directions of azimuth and elevation. It is the main developing direction of phased array radar. Beam control subsystem is an important part of phased array radar, and it controls the radiation units to achieve the goal of electrical scan. In certain two dimensional phased array radar, the beam control subsystem's main characteristic is that it is divided into multi-levels, which makes the system flexible and convenient to be extended. Each level of the subsystem confronts different radiation units array and is an independent unit. This paper gives a detailed description of the compositions, functions, main technologies and hardware implementation of this beam control subsystem. For raising the performance of the radar, the number of radiation units is becoming more and more, where the request for the Beam control subsystem is more and more difficult to meet.

The commonly used planar phased array radar has a number of issues in making polarimetric measurements, including increase of beam width, sensitivity loss and polarization coupling. Based on the background of multi- radar network and resources management and related algorithm,in order to embed in the radar network simulation platform and obtain the measured data,this paper presents a functional simulation of phased array radar. A key discussion is put on the achievement of the beam arrangement model,target detection model and phased array radar task scheduling algorithm model. Simulations are completed for three common targets and a stealth target in radar scanning airspace to test the functionalities,such as searching,validating,tracking and losing. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the phased array radar system and the corresponding algorithms.

This article uses the radar beams scan characteristics of the phased array radar, and proposes an algorithm based on the rough sets theory to sort the signal of phased array radars. From the research of the character of the phased array radar's beam scanning manners, and use the PDW received from sensors as the set of attributes. So we can sort the phased array radar signal from the environment.

This paper summarized difficulties and challenges of thermal control technology based on the evolution of the active phased array radar.Different characteristics and technical difficulties of thermal control technologies for different kinds of radar were analyzed,such as ground based phased array radar,high mobility phased array radar,ship-borne phased array radar,airborne phased array radar and space based radar.The development trends of thermal control technology for future radars were suggested in the end of this paper.

In contrast to conventional radars,phased array radars have the capability to switch the direction of the radar beam very quickly without inertia.The measurements from phased array radar can contribute to many application fields such as data and intelligence process,radar performance evaluation,etc.However,it often costs more than we can bear to obtain phased array radar measurements.It is necessary to model and simulate the phased array radar.According to operational theory of phased array radar,this paper focuses on the functional modelling and simulation techniques.It contains three parts: beam arrangement of phased array radar in sin coordinate,parameter optimization of phased array radar and a function simulation model of missile-borne phased array radar.

The aim of This paper is to sorting the phased array radar signal. The method is using the radar beams scanning characters of the phased array radar, then proposes an algorithm based on the rough sets theory to sort the signal of phased array radars. From researching on the characters of the phased array radar's beam scanning manners, we can use the PDW received from the receiving equipments as a set of attributes. Through using RST to reduce the attributes of phased array radar signal, we can get the rule of the attributes' nucleus. So we can sort the phased array radar signal from the electromagnet environment from using the rule. Through experiments showed that this method can get a good result and can efficiently sort the phased array radar signal.

A surveillance performance measure for quantifying the performance improvement capability of a phased array radar is introduced. Included in the measure are definitions of the tracking performance of the conventional TWS radar and of the phased array radar. Details are also given of the phased array radar track load calculations. With these instruments, the phased array radar surveillance performance is compared with the conventional TWS radar.
