Most countries have clearly defined regulations governing the use of pesticides in agricultural activity. The application of pesticides in agriculture usually leads to a residual amount of these pesticides on food products such as fruit and vegetables. The presence of pesticide residues on these foods destined for human consumption may pose food safety risks to consumers. To protect consumers, national authorities have established maximum limits for pesticide residues in foods. These limits can only be enforced if there are methods available to detect and monitor their concentrations in the applicable food products. To support the enforcement of this legislation, we have developed a multi‐residue liquid chromatography‐tandem mass spectrometry (LC‐MS/MS) method for the analysis of 120 pesticide residues in apples and cucumbers which has been validated and implemented in the routine monitoring and surveillance programme for these pesticides. In this method, apple and cucumber samples are extracted using the QuEChERS method (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe) and the extracts were analyzed directly by LC‐MS/MS. The mean recoveries at three different concentrations of 0.01 µg/g , 0.05 µg/g, and 0.1 µg/g over the analytical range varied between 70 and 120%. The repeatability of the method expressed as %RSD was less than 20%. The limit of detection (LOD) of the method ranged between 0.0014 and 0.0110 µg/g for apples and between 0.0012 and 0.0075 µg/g for cucumbers. The limit of quantification (LOQ) of the method was 0.01 µg/g for apples and cucumbers. The method has been used for the analysis of over 600 apple and 550 cucumber samples over the past two years. Presently most studies focusing on pyrethiod pesticides in milk have a common problem that sample processing is complicated,time-consuming and not suitable for large amounts of sample pre-treatment.It’s very necessary to establish a rapid, simple, efficient and environmentally friendly method. In this study, the new QuEChERS method was chosen for sample processing, and GC-ECD was chosen as detecting technique, developing a rapid method to determine 8 pyrethiod pesticides in milk. Results are as followed:the method showed good recoveries(range from65.09 % to 100.02%) and repeatability(RSD from 2.96% to 11.64%) for all compounds, with detection limits ranging from 0.001mg/kg to 0.008mg/kg,which met the detection requirements of pesticide residues in food. The method is simple, fast, safe and can be used to analyze pyrethoid pesticide residues of milk.

Objective A QuEChERS-TOF-MS/MS method was developed for determination of unknown pesticides residues in food and agricultural products. Methods QuEChERS method was used to extract the unknown pesticides residues in food and agricultural products. After importing data by PeakView software,TOF-MS/MS quality precision and isotopic distribution of each compounds,as well as the retention time of the standard solution and standard spectrum library were compared to calculate the matching degree and qualitatively analyze the target compound. Finally, the software of MultiQuant was used to quantify. Results Through the automatic correction system, the method for automatic correction, had accurate mass stability in a long time, and the quality of the system accuracy was less than 1 mg/kg.Conclusion The proposed method is suitable for screening of pesticide residues in agricultural products, and also suitable for routine detection of inspection department.

In this study, pesticide residues in tomato products from Shahr-e-Rey farms were measured and investigated by QuEChERS modified method. This method was on the base of the sample preparation in few steps and high speed. Measurement of pesticide residues was carried out by gas chromatograph with electron capture detector. In this study, most of the pesticides showed a recovery in the range of 70% – 120%. Limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) for all pesticides were lower than 0.50 and 1.90 µg/kg respectively. chlorpyrifos was detected in studied samples at average concentration 3.22 µg/kg, which was lower than the Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) of national standard. Results showed that mentioned method is a very useful method for studying pesticides residues in tomato.

Objective:To establish a method for determination of 31 pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables. Methods: Modified QuEChERS pretreatment method and a on-line GPC-GC-MS system were used for the rapid determination of 31 pesticide residues including organophosphorus, organochlorine, carbamate and pyrethroid etc. Results: The 31 pesticides were well separated and the detection limits of the method were 0.01 μg/kg~0.83 μg/kg,the recoveries were 72%~110% and the relative standard deviations were 1.6%~10%.Conclusion: The good sensitivity, precision, accuracy, simple operation and short analytical period of this method could satisfy the requirement of simultaneous determination of various pesticide residues.

The extraction and purification improvements of the QuEChERS method for determinations of multiple pesticide residues in vegetables and fruits have resulted in increased sensitivity and cleaner matrix. The improved method combining with GC-MS has been successfully applied to determine 54 pesticide residues, covering a wide range of physicochemical properties,in vegetables and fruits. For the 54 pesticide residues in level of 0.05-1.0 mg·kg-1,the average recoveries(n=6) were in range of 65%-120% with the RSD(n=6) of 4%-14%.The limits of detection were in range of 3-25 μg·kg-1.
