    Through the collection and analysis to the historical materials of the flooding disasterinGuanzhong areain1801-2005,and with7 multinomials in the least squares method,the flooding disaster development tendency in this areain future five years(2006-2010) was forecasted,the time and spatial characteristicsof the flooding disaster in Guanzhong were studiedbyMATLAB.The results showed that flooding disaster of the recent200 yearsaltogether accured 83 times,and averagely occurredone time per 2.47 years.The frequency of flooding disaster increased obviously during 1850-1930,in the 30's of 20th century the frequency of flooding disaster increased obviously,especially in the 1960's.In the five districtsofGuanzhong area,Weinan City suffered the flooding disastermost frequently,Tongchuan did lightly. It was forecasted that therewill have 0.9653 times of flooding disaster in the future 5 years(2006-2010).

    This paper proposes a novel routing scheme, named Controlled Flooding with Passive Anti-Flooding (CFPAF), aiming at handling Urgent Messages (UMs) in Body Area Sensor Network (BASN). By contrast to most of existing routing schemes, which employ common flooding methods for forwarding UMs towards the destination, CFPAF combines a Controlled Flooding approach with Passive Anti-Flooding capability for forwarding UMs while reducing the transmission cost. In addition, Advance Gossip Mechanism is adopted in CFPAF to further reduce the UM flooding storm. Simulation results show that compared to the classic Multi-Path Forwarding method, CFPAF dramatically reduces the number of forwarded packages without significantly affecting the average end-to-end delay.
    This paper proposed D-Flooding,an efficient degree-based flooding scheme,with the objective of minimizing the number of redundant messages and retaining the same message propagating scope as that of standard flooding.At the different searching steps,D-Flooding chose nodes to forward massages according to their degrees.Analysis and simulation results show that the D-Flooding scheme provides a low overhead broadcasting facility that can be effectively used in P2P searching.Compared with standard flooding used in Gnutella,it shows that the D-Flooding scheme with the same TTL can reduce up to more than 84.5% of flooding messages,and retain almost the same flooding scope.

    Background In Argentina, most poplar plantations are located at the Parana River Delta. Climate change models indicate an increase of flooding events for the next decades in this area. Therefore, poplar genotypes with a higher flooding tolerance will be needed for the forest activity. Whether this aim is achieved through traditional breeding or biotechnological developments, it will be important to gain a better understanding of poplar responses to flooding at physiological, biochemical and molecular levels. In a previous work, we characterized the growth and morphological responses of several poplar clones to 35 days of flooding of the root system [1]. From this group, we selected two Populus deltoides clones with different growth responses to flooding: Alton and Stoneville 67. In clone Alton, above ground growth is not affected by flooding, while in Stoneville 67 growth is reduced after the second week of flooding. In the present work, our aim was to identify mechanisms underlying the differences in growth responses to flooding between the two clones. We characterized physiological and biochemical responses in roots and leaves, during a flooding period of 28 days, followed by an after flooding period of three weeks.

    Flooding is widely used in unstructured peer to peer (P2P) systems, such as Gnutella. Although it is effective in content search, flooding among peers or super-peers causes large volume of unnecessary traffic. To address this problem, we propose an efficient and adaptive search mechanism, adaptive flooding routing algorithm (AFRA). AFRA provides the flexibility to adaptively adjust the number of relay neighbors and TTL value to meet different performance requirements. The effectiveness of AFRA is demonstrated through simulation studies. Primary experimental results show that our new AFRA solution reduces about 65% of the flooding messages while maintaining the acceptable high searching quality
