Abstract:
Digital human in cyberspace can help provide humanized services in specific applications, such as question & answer systems, recommender systems, chatter robots, and intelligent assistants. While most researches focus on behavior analytics, few of them integrate the personality that is also a closely related factor. As a classic indicator for personality representation, Myers–Briggs type indicator (MBTI) categorizes an individual into mutually exclusive types from four dichotomous axes (extraversion versus introversion, sensing versus intuition, thinking versus feeling, judging versus perceiving). Traditional recognition method using MBTI simply measures the user's preference frequency in each axis through questionnaires, treating the dominant value as the identified result. Such a paradigm, however, represents all the people with only 16 types and cannot distinguish heterogeneous users clearly. This article proposes a novel personality recognition method using fuzzy logic. Different from previous classifications, our new method categorizes the individual in a continuous space and represents one's personality in a more fine-grained level. We have designed comparative psychological tests for 77 people. The validation experiments on such tests indicate that the fuzzy-logic-based method is not only consistent with the classic MBTI tests (in the sense of defuzzification) but also provides the uncertainty for each personality type. Therefore, it can be viewed as a generalization of the classic MBTI tests and promotes the representation of individual's heterogeneity for fine-grained analytics of digital human. Keywords:

Abstract Background The precise choice of specialty is of paramount importance in a physician’s career. Several factors play a role in deciding the specialty, such as intelligence, motivation, clinical experience, personality, and socioeconomic factors. Our hypothesis is whether personality profiles differ based on specialty choice. Therefore, we investigated the association between personality traits and specialty choice. Results A cross-sectional study was conducted among 379 undergraduate medical students. Big five personality inventory was used to determine the personality traits among medical students. The most chosen speciality among both male and females was Surgery. Comparing the groups depending on their preferred specialties revealed no differences in three of five personality traits of Big five personality inventory. Students who selected psychiatry specialty scored highest on openness ( p = 0.007) and lowest on extraversion ( p = 0.018), indicating a substantial difference between the traits of extraversion and openness to experience. Conclusions The differences in personality features could not be attributed to a predilection for a particular speciality. However, medical students who scored higher on openness (intellect/imagination) and less on extraversion scales were more likely to choose psychiatric specialty. Numerous other factors affect specialization preference even if there are no differences in personality features between various specialties.

Guided by cybernetic perspectives on personality, the present work used a representative sample of U.S. adults (N = 992) to examine Big Five personality traits and social and aging factors as predictors of social media network membership and past-month browsing/searching and profile updating among members. The results showed adults who were less extraverted and less neurotic and who reported greater physical limitations were less likely to be members. Moreover, extraverted adults without partners were more likely to be members than introverted adults without partners. Among members, the results showed extraverted and emotionally stable younger and older adults reported a similar frequency of profile updating. In contrast, older adults with all other combinations of extraversion and neuroticism showed a reduced frequency of profile updating compared to younger adults. The findings are discussed in terms of social media involvement as a response of a self-regulatory system of personality adaptation.

Background: The paradigm of medical education has been changed from Teacher Centered Learning (TCL) to Student Centered Learning (SCL) that implemented through Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method. Medical students are expected to have the ability to learn independently or known as self-directed learning (SDL). This tendency then measured by a scale known as the Self Directed Learning Readiness Scale (SDLRS). Personality is one of the influential factors in this case. Extrovert personality type is considered more suitable to the SDL method. This study aimed to determine differences in self-directed learning readiness between introvert and extrovert personality type among medical students. Subject and Methods: This was an observational analytic study with cross sectional design. The subjects were medical students at Sebelas Maret University in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. This used random sampling method. The subjects were categorized into ready and not ready for SDL. Type of personality was divided into introvert, ambivert and extrovert. Motivation was selected as a confounding variable and divided into high and low motivation. Data were analyzed using multivariate regression analysis. Results: There were 69 students included in this study. We found that 25(36.2%) students were introvert, 16 (23.2%) students were extrovert and 28 (40.6%) students were ambivert. Based on SDLR scores, 23 (33.3%) students were ready for SDL and 46 (66.7%) students were not. Logistic regression analysis showed that extrovert students had chance to be ready for SDL 0.70 fold lower than introvert students (OR = 0.70; 95% CI= 0.18 to 2.74; p= 0.604). Otherwise, ambivert students 0.83 fold lower than introvert students (OR = 0.83; 95%CI= 0.26 to 2.64; p = 0.745) to be ready for SDL. Conclusion: There was no statistically difference of SDLR between personality types. Keywords : self-directed learning readiness, personality type Correspondence: Nurlatifah Febriana Wijayanti. Although there is a robust connection between dispositional personality traits and well-being, relatively little research has comprehensively examined the ways in which all Big Five personality states are associated with short-term experiences of well-being within individuals. We address three central questions about the nature of the relationship between personality and well-being states: First, to what extent do personality and well-being states covary within individuals? Second, to what extent do personality and well-being states influence one another within individuals? Finally, are these within-person relationships moderated by dispositional personality traits and well-being?Two experience sampling studies (N = 161 and N = 146) were conducted over 2 weeks.Across both studies, all Big Five personality states were correlated with short-term experiences of well-being within individuals. Individuals were more extraverted, emotionally stable, conscientious, agreeable, and open in moments when they experienced higher well-being (greater self-esteem, life satisfaction and positive affect, and less negative affect). Moreover, personality and well-being states dynamically influenced one another over time within individuals, and these associations were not generally moderated by dispositional traits or well-being.Behavior and well-being are interconnected within the context of the Big Five model of personality.

In this study, MBTI(Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) test was carried out targeting flight instructors and student pilots in charge of introductory flight training course. The results was analyzed in accordance with the personality type, the preferred indicator, and the combination of preferred indicators in order to see how these characteristics affect the flight training results. Most of personality types of the instructor, regardless of the attitude category such as E or I, were -STJ(70.6%), however the student pilot showed a variety of personality types, rather than professors. Sensing-type(S) students showed higher academic achievement scores than Intuition-type(N), and Judging-type(J) students showed higher academic achievement scores and pilot qualification scores than Perceiving-type(P). The success rate of Extraversion-type(E) student pilots was higher than that of Introversion-type(I) student pilots. As the personality combinations of instructor and student pilot, the academic achievement scores of Judging-Judging(J-J) type were higher than those of Perceiving-Perceiving(P-P) type. The combination of Extraversion-Extraversion(E-E) type showed higher success rate than Extraversion-Introversion(E-I). This result suggests that if both instructor and student pilot have same attitude of Extroversion(E), good training results can be expected.

One of the factors determining the psychological comfort of the social and professional interaction of a specialist is his personality type. Modern psychology of personality considers sixteen basic types to identify a person. An individual personality type of a specialist largely either contributes to or hinders the achievement of the optimal level of his competitiveness in the professional environment. The method developed by the author, “The choice of the priority type of professional activity of a specialist on the factor of the psychological type of his personality” allows us to draw conclusions for each specialist: on the priority influence of the components of the psychological type of his personality on the formation of individual social and professional competitiveness; on the choice of this type of professional activity that would allow optimal use of the capabilities of the psychological type of his personality to increase competitiveness in the professional environment. Practical use of the technique is considered on the example of young specialists of machine-building profile who graduated from a professional college.
