Abstract:
Abstract Objective: to evaluate usability of the Meu PICC (My PICC) app for follow-up of outpatients using peripherally inserted central catheters through the validated System Usability Scale instrument. Method: a cross-sectional study that applied the System Usability Scale to 30 patients using peripherally inserted central catheters, ten nurses and eight Information and Communication Technology professionals to assess usability of the app. Results: a statistical difference was observed between age and usability (p=0.006), as well as a negative correlation between app use time and usability (p=0.002). As per the System Usability Scale adjectival classification, 40.0% and 33.3% of the patients considered the app as the best possible to be imagined and as excellent, respectively. In relation to the nurses, 70.0% considered the app as the best possible to be imagined and 20.0% as excellent; of the Information and Communication Technology professionals, 50.0% considered the app as the best possible to be imagined and the other 50.0%, as excellent. Conclusion: the usability assessment showed that patients, nurses and ICT professionals considered the app useful for monitoring patients using PICCs and evaluated it as appropriate, evaluating it as the best possible to be imagined or as excellent. These results corroborate use of the Meu PICC app in the monitoring of outpatient use of PICCs.Keywords:

Online shopping platforms “Draz.pk,” “Homesopping.pk,” and “Telemart.pk,” were the most often used online stores in Pakistan. E-commerce platforms have not achieved their complete objectives, because they are faced with many usability issues. It is recommended that an evaluation of the usability of e-commerce platforms should be explored through different usability scales. This research study evaluates the usability of e-commerce platforms in Pakistan. In this research study, three e-commerce platforms were selected for usability evaluation. For this purpose total of 15 users were selected and performed the System Usability Scale method of assessing the usability. The result of the System Usability Scale method indicated usability of the “Homesopping.pk” and “Telemart.pk” was less than below 70%, which indicated that these websites need to improve the user interface. Five expert evaluators were also selected for Heuristic evaluation to perform on “Homesopping.pk” to find out the usability issues.

To facilitate use of patient-centered health IT applications in everyday life, a high degree of usability is required. Based on the example of a patient-centered web application, we propose a usability study design enabling developers and researchers to assess usability of patient-centered health IT applications and derive implications for their improvement. Our study design integrates tasks that subjects have to process, an associated questionnaire based on Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Usefulness, Attitude Toward Using, and Behavioral Intention to Use, a System Usability Scale questionnaire, and focus groups. Application of the usability study design demonstrates its feasibility and provides insights for assessment of usability in related projects in research and practice.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, libraries have been severely impacted by a decline in visitors. Universitas Ciputra’s Library (UC Library) has its own website outside the main university website, but the initial page does not reflect much on the main function of the library which provides collections that are available and accessible to users. To revive the function of the UC Library site to be useful and empowered for the UC academic community, it is necessary to revitalize it. The level of usability is very influential for the sustainability of a system, and in this study it can certainly be useful for initial data on the revitalization process. One method to measure usability that is often used is the System Usability Scale (SUS). SUS was developed by John Brooke since 1986. SUS is a usability scale that is reliable, popular, effective, and inexpensive. Users of the UC Library site were given 10 questions and answered them using a Likert scale. The results of the calculation of 46 respondents obtained the SUS score obtained is 57.12. This value falls into category F, and this results in a low usability level of the UC Library site and it is very necessary to revitalize it.

As part of an effort to connect results of human factors testing with the needs of internal business clients, a usability testing program was created for smartphones to establish a link between usability metrics and business indicators of success in the marketplace. In addition to standard usability metrics of effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction (ISO, 1998), a measure of hedonics (Hassenzahl, Beu, and Burmester, 2001) was used. Of particular note was the use of the System Usability Scale (SUS) (Brooke, 1996) to provide a single measure of user satisfaction for all smartphones tested. Data from 54 studies involving 872 participants were analyzed to determine if usability metrics predicted marketplace outcomes. Results show that usability metrics are significantly correlated with indicators of business success and that the SUS accounted for most of usability’s contribution. Discussion of these results, the value of SUS, and implications for usability professionals are discussed.

The result of usability evaluations is often accentuated as a distinctive input for developers to improve the usability of a software system. On the other hand developers say that many of the results from the usability evaluations are issues already known to them. This paper presents a study of usability problems as developers perceive them in their own emerging software in relation to usability problems experienced by users in a usability evaluation. The results indicate that having developers explicating their expectation on emerging software can provide a low-cost identification of problem areas, whereas a full scale usability evaluation provides specific knowledge of usability problems and their severity.

The usability of telemedicine provider websites is an essential component of increasing the public’s awareness of, understanding of, and safe and effective use of telemedicine. A newly developed usability data collection tool was used to conduct a usability assessment of the Teladoc website pre- and post- a redesign. The results suggest that the Teladoc website had better usability prior to the redesign. The Teladoc Website Usability Survey (TWUS) developed for the Teladoc website usability assessment can be modified and used in future usability studies of telemedicine provider interfaces. Usability research that takes place in specific context of use settings is more valuable to identify usability problems.

In education, it is crucial to make the students enjoy during the class. Many platforms have been introduced for online classes, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic; thus, it is significant to assess the student's perception of the usability of those platforms. This research aims to evaluate the usability of the selected platforms, Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, and Padlet. The System Usability Scale is used to measure the usability of each Learning Management System platform. A survey consisting of ten questions is distributed to a group of students. The result indicates that Google Classroom got the highest usability score, suggesting that it provides students with a more user-friendly and intuitive experience. Although Microsoft Teams received the lowest usability score, ironically, most students prefer to use it compared to the other LMSs. These findings emphasise that it is important to consider factors beyond usability alone when assessing students' platform preferences. Understanding these factors can assist educators in making informed decisions about selecting and implementing LMS platforms.
