This paper reviews the application of household production theory to health and nutrition and their determinants in the economics literature. We examine 17 recent studies applying this approach and analyse how they model utility functions, elementary goods, and production processes. Notwithstanding the valuable insights provided by these economic analyses into the phenomenon of obesity and health behaviour, the framework’s basic idea, the separation of utility generation and production technology, is not pursued consistently. The majority of the studies reviewed focus solely on health production, thereby neglecting important production processes for other elementary commodities and their related inputs and technologies. We advocate a broader application of the household production principle and discuss how such a view can guide theoretical and empirical analysis and may provide inspiration for data collection and policy design.

In this thesis,for the first time the author brings forward two conceptions for the factors of production from generalized and special meanings.With the meaning of generalized factors of production,we advance a hierarchical theory about factors of production,which formulates a system of generalized factors of production.These factors include the basic factors of production(elements of production),factors as production units,factors as production industries,factors as production departments.

Along with the appearance of ecological environment problem and becoming more serious,the limitation of two kinds of production theory exposed gradually.Brought into line with the ecological environment production,three kinds of production theory aroused at the historic moment.But now in the knowledge economy time,the strength of social environment factors just as culture,system and so on,reveals gradually and becomes stronger day by day,we find that three kinds of production theory also needs further research and development.This article points out some deficiency of three kinds of production theory by giving some examples,and brings the cultural production and the system production into it,then forms a new theory,three kinds of production theory,we expect that it may give some new apocalypse to the formation of scientific development view.

The theory of production applied to the construction industry has been typically based on management theories, and the application of the economic theory of production is less common. The economic theory of production focuses on features of the demand for factors of production (inputs) and output of commodities to develop input and output functions. The issues involved on the input side are concerned with the technical constraint of production processes that determine the cost base, and on the output side with the structure of markets where prices and revenues are determined. This paper focuses on the input side. The purpose of the paper is to discuss properties of construction production technology in the context of the economic theory of production and the production function. The paper then discusses the role of technical progress and shifts in the production function due to the adoption of new techniques which affect the production process or change input/output relationships.

The 1500–1970 literature on the theory of production/the firm can be usefully divided into four approaches to the positive analysis of production or the firm: aggregate production, market structure, the representative firm and micro-production. Each approach will be examined to establish the nature and development of the approach and the relationships between them.
