The aims of this study were to evaluate the frequency of healthy eating habits (FHEH) and sufficient level of leisure time physical activity (LTPA) in Physical Education college teachers from Rio Grande do Sul. A long version of IPAQ was accessed to verify the level LTPA and the “10 Steps to Healthy Feeding” to attend FHEH. Most teachers (66.7%) were considered sufficiently active during leisure time. Regarding the FHEH, step 8 showed the highest adherence (62.5%), followed by step 7, with 41.7%. Lower adherence was found to step 5 with 4.2% and steps 4 and 2, with 8.3% each. No teacher adhered to all the steps. It was concluded that teachers have higher LTPA than the general population, but there is poor adherence to healthy eating habits. Keywords: Faculty.

Overweight and obesity have increased rapidly in incidence to become a global issue today. Overweight and obesity problems are significantly linked to unhealthy dietary patterns, physical inactivity and misperception of body image. This study aimed to determine whether Malaysian children build healthy eating habits from childhood.A survey on eating habits was conducted among primary school students in standards 4 to 6 in the state of Selangor, Malaysia. The findings of the study were reported in the form of descriptive statistics involving frequencies and percentages. Data from 400 respondents were analyzed. Our findings showed that the students understood the definition of healthy food and the types of food that are considered healthy. Although the students knew that food such as deep-fried drumsticks and hamburgers contain a high amount of saturated fat and cholesterol, these foods were still consumed by them. There was also a high consumption of foods that are fried and contain sugar, salt and saturated fat. In choosing food, two major factors contributed to the students' decisions: cleanliness (65.8%) and the preference of their parents (12.3%).Our findings indicate that by implementing the Integrated School Health Program (ISHP) properly, students' eating habits can be improved by creating a school with a healthy environment.

This study aimed to evaluate the food intake patterns of adolescents with respect to the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating, and to examine variations in food intake patterns by age, gender and region of residence.Cross-sectional online food survey administered through schools. In 2004-2005, 3841 secondary students in years seven (12-13 years) and nine (14-15 years) drawn from 37 secondary schools in Victoria, Australia completed an online food intake patterns survey.Food intake was measured by a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), and categorized according to the five basic food groups (fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy, cereal) and the 'extra' food group as defined by the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating (AGHE). The foods groups were examined in the study population and compared across age, gender and region. Many adolescents in this sample reported food intakes that deviated substantially from recommendations of the AGHE. For example, two-thirds of participants failed to consume foods from the five recommended food groups daily; over a third reported eating fruit 'rarely or never'; and 22% reported eating fast foods every day. Food intakes were generally more in line with dietary guidelines among girls than boys. Regional differences were less consistent, and there were few differences by age.A significant proportion of adolescents have food intakes that fall short of the recommendations outlined in the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating. This highlights the need for public health initiatives to promote healthier food intake patterns among adolescents.

Abstract Background Dietary pattern early in life is to some degree preserved into adulthood and may have implications for future health. There is scarce knowledge on associations between choices of certain foods among adolescents. The aim of this study was to explore how intakes of different food groups, correspond to each other from a health perspective among adolescents. Methods This cross-sectional study used data from 16-year-olds (n=13 451), who completed a health questionnaire within School Health Services from 2009 until 2015, in a county from Southern Sweden. Dietary pattern based on the response-alternatives from the ten items regarding intake of food and food frequency intake were grouped as healthy, moderately healthy, and unhealthy intakes, based on Nordic Nutrition Recommendations. Results In the student cohort healthy reported intakes of different healthy food groups were closely connected to each other. Association between intakes of certain food groups were seen. High intake of fish, vegetables and fruit were associated to each other, as well as low intake of sweet drinks, sweets and snacks. The highest association was seen between high intake of fruit and high intake of vegetables, with OR=23 (95% CI 12 to 44). Conclusion Healthy food intakes were associated with each other among 16-year-old adolescents; High intake of fruit and vegetables could serve as a key indicator for a healthy dietary pattern in this age group. This knowledge increases the understanding of food patterns among adolescents and can be used for designing interventions. It also raises a hypothesis that focusing on offering healthy foods, more than restricting unhealthy foods could have a positive impact on the dietary pattern.

The effectiveness of an eight-week nutrition and physical activity intervention at a summer camp to prevent obesity, and promote healthy eating habits and physical activity among children in Kuwait was studied. Two summer camps were recruited for intervention and comparison groups. Convenient sampling was used (N= 79). Pre-test/post-test assessment were used for the participants in the intervention and comparison groups. Modified Healthy Habits Survey (HHS) was used to measure children’s knowledge, behavior and attitude about nutrition, screen time and physical activities, BMI-for age percentile were collected. Statistical analysis included independent t-test, paired t-test, chi-squared test, McNemar's test, and multiple regression. Results indicated that there was a significant increase in nutrition knowledge score (Pp= 0.013, p = 0.007, p = 0.002, and p = 0.012, respectively). There was no significant decrease in the number of servings of unhealthy foods for french-fries and chips, fruit flavored drinks or soft drinks. The only significant decrease in the unhealthy food intake was seen in the number of servings of sweets and candies. Thirty-three-point-three percent of participants in the intervention group decreased their consumption of sweets and candies to 1 time or less per day (P=0.001). There was a significant increase in the intervention group in both physical activity and screen time knowledge (Pp
