    Abstract:
    Traditional teaching approaches are giving way to new ones in medical education. Residents' interest in readily available educational resources is causing instructors to rethink their teaching strategies. This study aims to find which of these ways of learning is preferred by residents. A descriptive survey study was distributed among emergency residents who doing their program in Riyadh during the period from April 2021 to September 2021. All Saudi board emergency medicine residents R1, R2, R3, R4, and post-training residents within the last two years in Riyadh were included. Data were collected using an electronic survey (SurveyMonkey) using a validated questionnaire. This study analyzed 202 residents and post-graduated and ER residents regarding their learning sources and preferences. Participants were at different levels of training as 23.8% were in their first year of residency, 22.8% were in their second year, 19.3% were in their third year, 22.3% were in their fourth year and 11.9% finished their training during the last two years. The majority of the participants 57.4% claimed that they spend 1-2 hours of their extracurricular time on educational material.
    Mismatch between program directors' expectations of medical school graduates and the experience of students in medical school has important implications for patient safety and medical education. We sought to define family medicine residency program directors' expectations of medical school graduates to independently perform various procedural skills and medical school graduates' self-reported competence to perform those skills at residency outset.In July of 2011, a paper-based survey was distributed nationwide by mail to 441 family medicine residency program directors and 3,287 medical school graduates enrolled as postgraduate year 1 (PGY-1) residents in family medicine residency programs. Program director expectation of independent performance and recent medical school graduate self-reported ability to independently perform each of 40 procedures was assessed.Surveys were completed and returned from 186 program directors (response rate 42%) and 681 medical school graduates (response rate 21%). At least 66% of program directors expected interns to enter residency able to independently perform 15 of 40 procedures. More than 80% of new interns reported they were able to independently perform five of the 15 procedures expected by program directors.Incongruity exists between program director expectations and intern self-reported ability to perform common procedures. Both patient safety and medical education may be jeopardized by a mismatch of expectation and experience. Assessment of medical students prior to medical school graduation or at the start of residency training may help detect procedural skill gaps and protect patient safety.

    We conducted a study to determine the practice location pattern among graduates of a family practice residency program with respect to the distribution of the physicians in nonurban areas of the country. One of the primary goals of The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas Family Practice Residency Program based in the John Peter Smith Hospital of Fort Worth is to encourage and increase the number of physicians who will eventually locate in rural areas or in small communities. Analysis of the project supports the conclusion that a residency training program does not need to be based geographically in a rural area to achieve an equitable distribution of physicians in nonurban areas.
    Background and Objectives: Medical residents continue to experience high rates of burnout during residency training even after implementation of the 2003 Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education duty-hour restrictions. The purpose of this study is to determine medical student interest in flexible residency training options. Methods: Researchers developed an 11-question survey for second through fourth-year medical students. The populations surveyed included medical students who were: (1) attending the 2015 American Academy of Family Physicians National Conference, the 2015 Family Medicine Midwest Conference, and (2) enrolled at University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, Drexel University College of Medicine, and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Results: The survey was completed by 789 medical students. Over half of medical students surveyed indicated that they would be interested in working part-time during some portion of their residency training (51%), and that access to part-time training options would increase their likelihood of applying to a particular residency program (52%). When given the option of three residency training schedules of varying lengths, 41% of male students and 60% of female students chose a 60-hour workweek, even when that meant extending the residency length by 33% and reducing their yearly salary to $39,000. Conclusions: There is considerable interest among medical students in access to part-time residency training options and reduced-hour residency programs. This level of interest indicates that offering flexible training options could be an effective recruitment tool for residency programs and could improve students’ perception of their work-life balance during residency.

    A survey of 71 graduates of the psychology residency program at The University of Texas Houston Medical School and the Texas Research Institute of Mental Science indicated that two-thirds of the respondents were involved in private practice, conducting primarily individual therapy, with assessment also playing a major role in their practice. Managed care had the effect of placing limits on the numbers of sessions available to patients, reducing income, and increasing paperwork associated with practice. Implications for training during residency are that individual therapy, using focused short-term approaches, and assessment should continue to be the primary clinical experiences for trainees, and that there should also be training in the business aspect of practice, including marketing.

    The training program for a modern pediatrician involves the study of Pedagogy in medical residency in specialty 31.08.19 Pediatrics. The urgency of such training for the future doctor is uncontroversial today. Currently the experience of studying this discipline has been gained in Russian medical universities. At the same time this work requires further improvement and exchange of experience with colleagues.

    Introduction: Multiple choice questions are the most common and objective test in medical science education. The aim of this study is to determine effectiveness of faculty development program on quality of residency exams in medical school of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences (QUMS) in Iran.
