We have analyzed the creatures exploration problem with non-uniform creatures. The creatures' task is to visit all empty cells in an environment containing obstacles with a minimum number of steps. Ten different algorithms with good performance from former investigations were used on 16 environments. New metrics were defined for such a multi agent system, like the absolute and relative efficiency. The efficiency relates the work of an agent system to the work of a reference system. A reference system is such a system that can solve the problem with the lowest number of creatures with potentially different algorithms. It turned out that the system CG-32a (32 creatures, algorithms C and G, alternating placed initially) is 31% respectively 33% more efficient than the reference systems. The relative efficiency was even higher when systems using the same algorithms were compared. Mixing different types of creatures resulted in efficiencies higher than one in 6% of all non-uniform systems.

There's very little that's surprising about a visit to the zoo. Many of us have been familiar with zoos since we were small. Even before you enter, you know you'll probably see a lion, a tiger, koalas and some birds. The aesthetic experience is special and strange, yet predictable and safe: creatures we do not encounter in the everyday are here in abundance, behind bars or glass to protect them and us. The seals frolic and the lions roar. Young families laden with snacks, icypoles and prams cluster around exhibits, while couples stroll hand in hand, cooing at creatures.

This study aims to grasp the current circumstances of gathering and utilization of “information of creatures” in Tama area, Tokyo Prefecture. We considered “information of creatures” as “information about characteristics and distributions of natural creatures, such as plants, insects, amphibian, reptiles, fishes, birds and mammals.” In comparison with utilization and potential of gathering information of creatures in the municipalities, it becomes clear that the considerable differences exist among municipalities. It has also been identified that the differences depends on ‘the purposes of gathering the information’, ‘the level of interests of the administration’, ‘the existence of experts and citizen's eco-activity’, and ‘the financial conditions’. From the viewpoint of the succession of surround municipalities, projects about rivers and hills were cooperated with them, but, the exchanges about “information of creatures” were not practiced. As a result, the properties of creatures which move over administrative border were not considered. To enrich information of creatures , we propose that decide methods of investigation in politics which take effect in almost municipalities, such as Basic Environment Plan, to get the fixed information, first of all, it is necessary urgently to appreciate the conditions each other in neighboring municipalities.

Abstract Part 3 (chs. 7–11) of this book shows how God has to allow the possibility of bad things if he is to provide the good things described in Part 2. First, he has to allow creatures to freely choose what is bad. Although it is implausible to suppose that all possible creatures would suffer from ‘transworld depravity’, as Plantinga supposes, creatures do need bad desires (temptations) if they are to have a choice between good and bad.

We propose to implement a two-dimensional version of the work described in Karl Sims’s 1994 SIGGRAPH Proceedings paper “Evolving Virtual Creatures.” [SIMSa] We will investigate goaldirected genetic algorithms and the dynamics of complex rigid bodies. Our application will generate animations of virtual creatures exhibiting evolved behaviors. The user will specify the characteristics of the environment in which two-dimensional creatures will evolve. An initial random set of creatures will be created and simulated, and those that are successful at specified behaviors will be selected for breeding. Goal behaviors will include jumping, walking, and swimming. Once the program has bred several generations of creatures, survivors may be saved for future examination.

If we want to protect our environment, we first need to know where animals and plants are. Are they hidden in the woods? Are they next to cities? Which woods or which cities? Wandering all over the world to find where living things are might seem exciting at first. However, in the long run, it might get a little tiring, no? Thankfully, we do not need to explore every corner of the Earth to know where the animals and plants are. Scientists instead use computers to deduce where certain species might be. In this article, we will describe how to find where raccoons live, by giving a computer special instructions. To do so, we just need a few observations of raccoons, the environmental conditions in which they have been identified, and a set of instructions to give to our computer.
