Economic impact analysis of the science and technology investment's contribution to the regional GDPs in the northern central cities of Anhui province, China

Abstract:
ECM modeling and econometric tests were used to analyse the impact of science and technology investments (STIs) on economic growths during 1997-2013 in seven northern central cities of Anhui province, China. The correlations between local STIs and regional economic growths were found statistically significant in four of those northern cities of Anhui province. Empirical results estimated the impacts of STIs on GDPs were significant in four of these cities. Regional economic growth of GDP was elevated by 14.3391, 53.5197, 36.1417 and 17.0801% in the short terms, and adjusted by 17.4804, 128.5715, 53.0834 and 45.0429% in the long terms, while STIs were increased by 1% according to the estimated elasticity coefficients. Furthermore, the promoting efficiencies of STIs on GDPs were analysed according to the q statistics too. These results revealed that the potential impacts of local STIs on regional economic growths were significant in these four cities.Cite

Although china is not a member of G8,more and more evidence shows the distance between china and G8 is getting closer since their first contact in 2003.This paper begins with the interrelationship history of china and G8,then analyzes the reasons of G8 inviting china and the significance for china to affiliate it.Being up against the challenge and uncertainty of globalization,china should considerate affiliating G8 carefully.

This study was conducted to find out the solutions to improve the troubles in Hilly and Mountainous villages whose living Standard is low, and to reconstruct those villages into new space for living. Several villages around Mt.JIRI among Hilly and Mountainous villages of Korea which were already examined in 1988 were chosen for this study. As the results of this study, we analyzed the changes of consciousness on the shift of the level of living condilions, depopulation, direction of development, and then confirmed the subject in order to improve the Hilly and Mountainous villages in future.

Over the past 60 years, urbanisation and cities have fundamentally transformed the social, economic and political geography of West Africa. The number of people living in cities increased from 5 million in 1950 to 133 million in 2010. During the same period, the number of towns and cities with more than 10 000 inhabitants grew from 159 to close to 2 000. A large majority of these agglomerations are secondary cities and small towns that act as hubs and catalysts for local and regional production and supply chains, as well as for the transfer of goods, people and information, linking the local and regional economies to the global economy. The intensity of the spatial interactions of cities has strongly increased with population growth, urbanisation and higher urban density. This paper, part of ongoing work within the Sahel and West Africa Club Secretariat to integrate urbanisation and city growth into analyses of major trends in the region, lays the foundation for the development of a systematic method to capture and describe these spatial interactions. It does so by examining four variables: city size, market potential, urbanisation level and local dominance. These variables, in turn, help to define seven different city groups that can be used to classify West African agglomerations. The initial results of this work reveal the diversity and distinctive behaviours of cities in the region, providing a new perspective on urbanisation dynamics and the influence of spatial variables on urban growth rates, the emergence of new agglomerations and the clustering of cities.
