Abstract:
Abstract Background: PSEQ has been cross-culturally adapted into many languages with excellent reliability and validity. Recently, the short form of PSEQ-2 was developed and exhibited satisfactory psychometric properties. However, PSEQ and PSEQ-2 has not been translated or validated in mainland China. The present study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of simplified Chinese version of PSEQ and PSEQ-2 in patients with chronic pain. Methods: The original version of PSEQ and PSEQ-2 were linguistically translated and adapted to formulate the simplified Chinese version, which were then administrated by 219 patients with chronic pain, along with a set of self-report health-related instruments. Statistical analysis was performed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the simplified Chinese version PSEQ and PSEQ-2. Results: The simplified Chinese version of PSEQ and PSEQ-2 had been determined good to excellent internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha, 0.95 and 0.83), test-retest reliability (overall ICC, ). and sound construct validity, which was supported by moderately strong association with the criterion measures. Additionally, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis have found and confirmed one factor solution as hypothesized. Conclusion: The simplified Chinese version of PSEQ and PSEQ-2 showed satisfactory psychometric properties in Chinese population with chronic pain, and could be safely utilized to evaluating the self-efficacy in clinical and research setting. Keyword. PSEQ; PSEQ-2; simplified Chinese; validationThis study focuses on the reliability and validity of a Japanese version of the "attitudes towards the physically challenged" (ATPC) Form O. Form O measures the affective attitude component of the views towards the physically challenged and contains 20 statements to be responded to in a six-point range. A convenience sample of 154 physiotherapists in Fukui Prefecture participated in this mailed survey. The reliability of Form O was assessed as homogeneity, and its validity as construct validity. The rate of return was 47.5%. All but 1 of the 20 items were found to have significant item-total correlations. Cronbach's alpha coefficient for Form O was 0.76 with some evidence for construct validity, which explained 30.9% of the variance. The obtained factors were labelled as "prejudice", "differing view" and "self-concept" with the rate of contribution (Cronbach's alpha) being 20.27% (0.73), 6.41% (0.66), and 4.25% (0.69), respectively. Evidence for construct validity was demonstrated in Form O's ability to differentiate between genders and also between physiotherapists who preferred treating clients with conditions or diseases that would lead to permanent disability and those who preferred treating clients with conditions or diseases that would lead to a full recovery. Convergent validity, as a form of construct validity, was also supported for Form O. The results show that Form O can be considered a reliable and valid measure of documenting trends of importance in regards to the physically challenged.

Objectives: To investigate the validity and reliability of Modified Picture Vocabulary Test IV (PPVTIV) in 48-59 months old child. Methods 228 items in 19 sets of PPVT IV were translated in Indonesian language and revised according to Indonesian culture. One hundred and five 48-59 months old children were tested. The results wereanalyzed for its construct validity and reliability. The construct validity was valued by the correlation coefficient between the set score and the total score and the correlation coefficient between the itemscore and the set score. The reliability was valued by intra-class correlation coefficient, standard error of measurement (SEM) and Cronbach alpha. Results: The construct validity of Modified PPVT IV was good (r>0.256; α=0.01 n=100) and the reliability was high (internal consistency with Cronbach alpha= 0.938, inter-rater reliability= 0.957-0,985 and standard error of measurement (SEM) = 6.4).Conclusions: Modified PPVT IV was a valid instrument with satisfactory reliability. To increase the construct validity, there were 36 items that should be substituted.Key Words: Modified PPVT IV, construct validity, internal consistency reliability, inter-rater reliability, standard error of measurement Received in

To assess validity and reliability of a nutrition knowledge questionnaire originally developed for adults when used with high-school aged adolescents. The nutrition knowledge questionnaire utilized in this study was originally developed for adults and was shown to have content and construct validity as well as internal consistency and test-retest reliability. Two sections of the adult questionnaire, 50 questions total, were administered to adolescents at four high schools: three in California and one in Hawaii. Participants were convenience samples selected by teachers at each school based on known previous nutrition education (n = 174) or no known previous nutrition education (n = 136). Adolescents self-reported their current age and received a $10 gift card for completing the questionnaire. Questionnaire data were assessed for item difficulty, item discrimination with item-total correlation, and construct validity using an independent samples t-test. The overall questionnaire and individual sections were assessed for internal consistency reliability with Cronbach's alpha. Given the difference in nutrition education offered at each site, a post-hoc regression analysis was conducted to assess % correct by group when controlling for school. Assessment of item difficulty showed that one question exceeded the suggested 80% threshold, however this question was retained due to acceptable item discrimination. One question was found to negatively correlate with total score and was removed from the questionnaire resulting in 49 questions. The overall questionnaire was shown to have internal consistency reliability (Cronbach's α = 0.83) as were the individual sections (Cronbach's α > 0.70). The questionnaire also demonstrated construct validity with the adolescents that had known previous nutrition education having a significantly higher mean % correct compared to the adolescents without known nutrition education (P < 0.0001). The significant association between groups and % correct remained when controlling for school (P < 0.0001). Results suggests that the questionnaire was shown to reliably assess general nutrition knowledge in high school-aged adolescents with validity. The Present study investigates the construct validation of Affective Construct Questionnaire (ACQ) in the context of Iran. For this purpose, one hundred sixty seven EFL learners, who were studying English in Jahan Elm, Institute of Higher Education and Hafez English Language Institute, Mashhad, Iran, were asked to participated in the study and fill in the questionnaire and give it back to the researcher within a week. First internal consistency of the instrument was assessed using Cronbach's coefficient alpha reliability. Then, Confirmatory factor analyses (CFAs) were conducted using LISREL 8.80. The internal consistency analysis of the ACQ utilizing Cronbach's coefficient alpha reached acceptable alpha(s). The results of the CFA as assessed by the CFI/NNFI, RMSEA and chi-x2, reached acceptable fits. The factor structures were defined and the factors were clearly distinguishable from one another. Based on the findings, the researcher concluded that Affective Construct Questionnaire has undoubtedly strong psychometric characteristics and good constructs validity that makes him conclude that it is useful for assessing learners' affective constructs research in Iran.

Self-efficacy and outcome expectations regarding client activation determine professionals' level of actively engaging clients during daily activities. The Client Activation Self-Efficacy and Outcome Expectation Scales for nurses and domestic support workers (DSWs) were developed to measure these concepts. This study aimed to assess their psychometric properties. Cross-sectional data from a sample of Dutch nurses (n=150) and DSWs (n=155) were analysed. Descriptive statistics were used to examine floor and ceiling effects. Construct validity was assessed by testing research-based hypotheses. Internal consistency was determined with Cronbach's alpha. The scales for nurses showed a ceiling effect. There were no floor or ceiling effects in the scales for domestic support workers. Three out of five hypotheses could be confirmed (construct validity). For all scales, Cronbach's alpha coefficients exceeded 0.70. In conclusion, all scales had moderate construct validity and high internal consistency. Further research is needed concerning their construct validity, test-retest reliability and sensitivity to change.

INTRODUCTION: The Workplace Safety Culture Questionnaire (WSCQ) was developed to assess the level of knowledge, attitudes and practices on Workplace Safety Culture (WSC) among public sector office workers in Nigeria. The main objective of this study was to determine the validity and reliability of the new Workplace Safety Culture Questionnaire (WSCQ) using the Information Motivation and Behavior (IMB) model. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The WSCQ questionnaire was completed twice by the respondents themselves, with an interval of ten days between sessions, to assess the accuracy of the initial results with the retest. This study involved 44 participants. RESULTS: Cronbach's alpha showed significant item consistency for each construct in the second pilot study. The information construct (Cronbach's α=0.929 and minimum corrected item-total correlation (CITC)=0.399). The motivation construct (Cronbach's α=0.932 and minimum corrected item-total correlation (CITC)=0.450). The behavior construct (Cronbach's α=0.812 and minimum corrected item-total correlation (CITC)= 0.401). In test-retest reliability, Cohen's kappa coefficient for construct of information for all items was almost 70% between (kappa k=0.689-1000, p<0.001). The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) for the construct of motivation for all items is 90% between (ICC=0.810-1000, p><0.001) and (kappa k=0.944-1000, p><0.001) for the construct of behavior was 71% for all items. CONCLUSION: This study introduces the WSCQ using the IMB model among public sector office workers as the first official validation of the WSCQ.>

The Lower Extremity Functional Scale was translated into Canadian French in 2006; the translated version was titled Échelle fonctionnelle des membres inférieurs (EFMI). The construct validity and reliability of the EFMI have not been examined. To examine the test-retest reliability, internal consistency, and construct validity of the EFMI.Thirty-four participants who had undergone surgery or had an injury to the lower limb were asked to fill out a demographic questionnaire and complete the EFMI after their initial assessment while hospitalized. They completed the EFMI a second time within 72 hours. The intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) and the kappa coefficient were chosen to examine the test-retest reliability of the EFMI, and Cronbach's alpha coefficient was calculated to assess internal consistency. A factor analysis was conducted to examine construct validity by determining the number of constructs and their meanings. The ICC value was 0.92 (95% CI: 0.88-0.96), and Cronbach's alpha was 0.95 (95% CI: 0.91-0.99). The factor analysis revealed that all elements of the EFMI share one principal construct. The results demonstrate that the French-Canadian version of the EFMI is a unidimensional tool with excellent test-retest reliability.
