Abstract:
The usage of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in civil and military applications continues to increase due to the numerous advantages that they provide over conventional approaches. Despite the abundance of such advantages, it is imperative to investigate the performance of UAV utilization while considering their design limitations. This paper investigates the deployment of UAV swarms when each UAV carries a machine learning classification task. To avoid data exchange with ground-based processing nodes, a federated learning approach is adopted between a UAV leader and the swarm members to improve the local learning model while avoiding excessive air-to-ground and ground-to-air communications. Moreover, the proposed de-ployment framework considers the stringent energy constraints of UAVs and the problem of class imbalance, where we show that considering these design parameters significantly improves the performances of the UAV swarm in terms of classification accuracy, energy consumption and availability of UAVs when compared with several baseline algorithms. Keywords:

How does deployment affect reenlistment? The authors look at this particular issue in wake of the high rate of military deployment throughout the 1990s and with the prospect that deployment will rise even more in the coming years. The research finds that reenlistment was higher among members who deployed compared with those who did not. The analysis suggests that past deployment influences current reenlistment behavior because it enables members to learn about their preferences for deployment.

Baseline is a significant concept in the principle of SAR Interferometry. It reflects the inherent characters in the height measuring of InSAR, because it is not only the source of coherence but also the root of baseline decorrelation, and it defines the limitation of InSAR by a critical baseline. In this article, the baseline, the baseline decorrelation, the critical baseline and the relationships among them were analyzed thoroughly. A new concept, named coherent angle, was introduced to make the analysis more precise. The appearances of them both in time domain and image field were also explained.

Preliminary progress has been made in the assessment of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) swarm resilience based on complex networks. However, the evaluation results mostly use the initial performance state as the evaluation baseline, which is unreasonable. When UAV swarm performs a mission, as long as the network performance during the life cycle is sufficient to meet the mission requirements, it can be considered that UAV swarm has the resilience required to complete the mission. Therefore, a baseline assessment method of UAV swarm resilience based on complex networks is proposed in this paper. First, the baseline assessment method of UAV swarm resilience based on complex networks is characterized and investigated. Second, the effectiveness of the baseline assessment method is verified by simulation. The result shows that the baseline evaluation can effectively relax the evaluation result in a mission-oriented manner, and no longer use the initial state as the standard performance to measure the completion of the mission of UAV swarm. When UAV swarm performs a mission, it only needs to maintain or restore the resilience needed to complete the mission.
