    Abstract:
    Recent discoveries of novel physics in two-dimensional (2D) magnetic materials have sparked the search of new layered magnetic semiconductors. Compared to the traditional inorganic 2D van der Waals crystals, hybrid organic–inorganic metal–halide frameworks offer significantly enhanced chemical and structural versatility, where their optical, electronic, and magnetic properties can be readily modulated with both organic and inorganic components. Here, we reported a series of new Fe–Cl-based layered double perovskites LnMIMIIICl8, [n = 4, L = phenylethylammonium or chiral R-(+)-β-methylphenethylammonium and n = 2, L = 1,4-butanediammonium; MI = Ag/Na; MIII = Fe/In]. UV–vis measurements show that their optical band gaps are highly tunable by varying the organic cations, MI ion, and MIII ion. Magnetic susceptibility measurements suggest an antiferromagnetic coupling between the nearest FeIII–FeIII, where the Curie–Weiss temperature, Néel temperature, and frustration factors can be easily modulated with their compositions and dimensionality. Our study demonstrates the rich and interesting magnetic properties in these layered transition-metal–halide double perovskites and paves the way for design of multifunctional magnetic materials.

    I consider the ground state of quantum spins interacting via Heisenberg antiferromagnetic exchange, in lattices having several types of local environment. In unfrustrated cases, when a Néel type order exists, it is known that quantum fluctuations are site-dependent, and lead to an inhomogeneous local staggered order parameter. This paper discusses some effects of adding frustration to such a system, by including next nearest neighbor antiferromagnetic interactions. Within linear spinwave theory, it is found that as the frustration parameter increases, the local order parameters decrease at a rate that depends on the type of sites involved in the frustrated loops. The cases of a decorated square lattice system, and of a quasiperiodic tiling are considered to study difierent ways in which antiferromagnetism is suppressed in these inhomogeneous systems.

    Frustration situation and the college students' senses of frustration are always found among college students very easily and frequently in recent years. Therefore, it's very necessary to carry out antifrustration education and try to make them be lifted out of the puzzle of frustration, leap over the turning period smoothly and finish their studies.     We studied the spin arrangement in ultrathin antiferromagnetic Mn films in contact with a ferromagnetic Fe(001) substrate using spin-polarized scanning tunneling microscopy. Mn shows a layerwise antiferromagnetic order on Fe(001). In regions where Mn overgrows Fe steps, a frustration of the antiferromagnetic order occurs which is similar to a 180 degrees domain wall. This topologically enforced frustration was studied as a function of Mn thickness. A linear increase of the width of the frustration region with the Mn thickness was found.
