Abstract:
This research aims to design and implement the Simple Network Management Network Protocol (SNMP) for network management which is implemented directly at the Information Technology and Telecommunications Technical Implementation Unit (UPT TIK), Riau University. The monitoring system is part of the network management system, which is a system that functions to assist network administrators in monitoring and controlling network devices. The development of this system uses the PHP programming language and the MySQL database management system. From the results of system testing and analysis, it is found that the monitoring and network management systems that have been designed can run well in monitoring network devices. The system is designed to display the information needed in network management in the form of up / down status and traffic on network devices. The system is also equipped with an alert feature in the form of a sound notification on the system if the device status is down.Keywords:

초고속 통신망의 등장으로 네트워크의 규모가 커지고 복잡해짐에 따라 다양한 네트워크 장비 및 호스트들에 대한 관리 역시 복잡해지고 중요하게 되었다. 최근에는 구조가 간단하고 구현이 용이한 SNMP를 기반으로 네트워크 관리 및 운용할 수 있는 네트워크 관리 시스템들이 많이 연구되어 왔다. 그러나 이들 시스템들은 네트워크 구조가 복잡해지면서 확장 및 효율성 측면에서 네트워크 부하의 증가, 네트워크 관리 범위의 한계 등 많은 문제점들이 드러나고 있다. 특히 네트워크 객체를 관리하는 정보를 개발하는 데 있어서 지금까지는 거의 네트워크 개발자의 수작업에 의존하며 그로 인한 네트워즈 개발비용 및 시간이 많이 소요된다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 네트워크 관리를 위해 필요한 정보를 자동 생성해 줄 수 있는 프레임워크를 제안한다. 제안한 프레임워크에서는 네트워크 장비와 함께 제공되는 MIB 데이터와 SNMP 라이브러리를 이용하여 네트워크 관리 프로그램을 자동으로 생성한다. 아울러 제안한 프레임워크를 통해 생성된 네트워크 프로그램을 이용하여 SNMP 네트워크 구성확장을 용이하게 할 뿐 만 아니라 네트워크 관리 프로그램의 개발 기간 단축과 유지 보수에서의 에러율을 현저히 저하시키는 효과를 가져올 수 있다. As the appearance of very high speed telecommunication network, volume of network, is enlarged and complicated, management of the various network equipments and hosting systems become more complicated and significant. Recently, there have been various researches on network management system that is capable of managing and operating the network environment based on SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol). SNMP has many advantages, which is easy to implement and has a simple structure. However, as the network structure has become more complicated, it has caused a number of problems like the increase of network load and limit of the network management scope in terms of the network expansion and efficiency. Especially, it needs expensive cost and time for developing a network because many network developers are almost depended manually for developing it till now. In this paper, we propose a framework for network management program that automates the generation of information for network management. The Proposed framework is able to automatically generate a network management program by using information related with equipments which were provided along with the network equipments and SNMP library Thus, we ill make not only the SNMP network structure expansion become easier but also errors maintaining and development time of the network management program were dramatically reduced by using generated network program through our proposed framework.

According to the characteristics of the conventional satellite communication system,a new topological structure of multimedia communication satellite network(MCSN) is proposed with the architecture of the relevant network management system designed.Multiplex network management protocol(MNMP) is put forward because the conventional network management protocol do not adapt to satellite network.The blue print and information flow of the network management system are also designed.The management channel defined in ATM layer insures that the network management information transfers quickly and exactly.An MCSN demonstration/verification system is designed and implemented on the basis of satellite network simulation platform to show the feasibility of the network management system designed.

On the basis of SNMP and the MIB performance parameters and in line with the reality of the management of Campus Network and various application system, this paper presents five function-based management methods - performance Management, Fault Management, Accounting Management, Configuration Management, Security Management, and explains the profound theories in a simple way to four network management structures - Single-manager Multi-managed Objects, Multi-layer Management, Distribution Management, WEB-based Management. It offers an academic guidance and practical reference to the research and development of campus network and other relevant network of management software or to the choice of third management software.

Development of network management technologies results in a mass of isolated network management islands,which restricts the promotion of network management systems.In the face of lots of independent simple network management protocol(SNMP) network management systems,a Web service-based method of building distributed network management system was put forward.Network management functions of the managers were defined as Web services and published to the uniform center,in which the managers can inquire the Web services and call them in a custom-tailor way.Therefore,the distributed network management functions can be obtained.This method adopts loosely coupling architecture and builds a network management overlay that supports the coordinate information and the interacting actions between managers,and sustains the designing global network management functions according to practical requirements.A distributed network monitoring function on the system demonstrates that this building distributed network management system technology has excellent practicability.

This article describes AT&T's Unifed Network Management Architecture (UNMA), a blueprint for common, end-to-end network management of complex data, voice, and combined networks using AT&T and other vendor's equipment and services. In this article, we introduce the target network management functional areas and present details of the overall architecture, including the network management protocol that serves as the standard interface among the interconnected management systems. We present examples of element management system functions, including configuration and fault management for modems and multiplexers, and we show how, by coordinating a network-wide configuration database with data from each element management system, a network management integrator can provide superior, end-to-end network management capabilities.

The authors expand on their experience in a practical network management system by using the simple network management protocol (SNMP) in the context of a large-scale open systems interconnection (OSI)-based campus-network. Various aspects of network management are examined and the importance of time is shown. The network management infrastructure comprises intelligent, time-synchronized agents and expert managers. Agents are deployed to collect information about the network segments to which they are attached. The expert manager talks to the agents and gathers relevant network information which is used in conjunction with a network knowledge base, to reconstruct the overall network traffic characteristic, to evaluate the status of the network and to take/suggest some action. The model allows some global control, monitoring and management without installing agents on all elements connected to the network. The use of time labels and narrow time windows enables the manager to obtain a reasonably accurate picture of the network status. The introduction of composite time-labeled objects reduces the burden of management traffic on the network.< >

Effective network management is a must for the rapid growth of communication. Starting from the current demands for network management and its status quo, this paper describes and analyzes the construction goal and architecture of the management system for electric power communication network. It is pointed out that the simple network management protocol (SNMP) and the object oriented technology are more suitable, and the future network management system shall be intelligent, hierarchical and partitioned.
