    Network traffic generation is a vital part of traffic research as the exponential growth of the number of servers, as well as the number of users. Various researchers have reported traffic analysis that demonstrates different results of traffic modeling, such as Poisson distribution or considerable burstiness on a range of time scales with properties of self-similarity. Due to the distinct standpoint about the network traffic distribution, traffic generators have been developed dissimilar. In order to simulate the network traffic all-around, we present a technology of traffic generation which compose of stochastic and self-similar, and provide details on algorithm and implementation. In this paper, a new model for multi-patterns network traffic generation is presented. This model is based on three elements including the latency of network frames, Hurst exponent and network traffic types. This paper analyses the three parameters and finds a way to describe the relations among these. We choose multifractal wavelet model as the basis method, and perfect it applicable to multi-patterns network traffic generation. In this research, a network traffic generation system based on programming multi-core processor is build and the test result is given.

    The historical course of traffic simulation in China and abroad was briefly reviewed firstly,and some major features of the new generation traffic simulation technology since 21st century were summarized then. Afterwards,the simulation model characteristics of some prevailing traffic simulation models were comparably analyzed,and several advanced traffic simulation techniques for ITS applications were expatiated,including traffic simulation API,hardware-in-the-loop traffic simulation,software-in-the-loop traffic simulation,online traffic simulation. Finally,based on the state-of-the-practice of traffic simulation in China,some suggestions were given on fundamental simulation modeling fitting for Chinese traffic characteristics,development modes of traffic simulation system,development methodologies of online traffic simulation,etc.

    With the development of network application,network traffic is constantly increasing,and the web application testing is becoming more important.According to statistical results,the network traffic is self-similar in the time scale.Therefore,the research of self-similar traffic model is very important.Network traffic simulation has limitation by single computer.So this paper improves the Fraction Gaussian Noise(FGN)model so that it becomes a high-speed parallel algorithm to generate self-similar traffic.Using the improved algorithm,we propose a distributed system and present the design and implementation of this system.The paper also includes the work of achieving a network traffic detection tool.The results show that the testing samples generated by the distributed system have self-similar property.

    With the development of Web application, network traffic is constantly increasing. In order to do the performance testing of Web applications, a precise simulation of network traffic is necessary. However, traditional traffic model based on Poisson process can not characterize the behavior of real network traffic. Measurements of network traffic show that the property of the self-similarity is ubiquitous in Web environment. Because self-similarity is a common characteristic in todaypsilas network traffic, simulations which can generate the same degree of self-similarity as the original traffic are demanded. But nowadays, network traffic simulation has limitation by single computer. So this paper proposes a high-speed parallel algorithm to generate self-similar traffic based on the fraction Gaussian noise (FGN) model, We also give an architecture of a distributed system for running the parallel algorithm. The results show that the network traffic generated by the distributed system has self-similar property.

    Designing an integrated telecommunications and computer network using a simulation model requires defining all the network and communication elements that make up the network and network communication. The accuracy, quality, and usability of the simulation results depend on the accuracy and the way of defining the network traffic as a timed event between the source and the destination in the network. In this paper, the method for a more accurate definition of network traffic required for the development of a simulation model using the software tool OPNET is proposed. Network traffic can be represented using a multigraph associated with an appropriate matrix of network traffic over time. Time definition of network traffic is enabled by applying the method of sampling multigraphs with the mathematical derivation of the corresponding statistical distribution function. Predicted or existing communication in the network describes using the derived function of network traffic distribution and precisely defines the OPNET simulation model.

    Aimed at the key-point of the network simulation--traffic simulation and modeling, the characteristics of the traffic in the IP networks and the traffic modeling mechanism based on the OPNET are researched, and a new means is put forward. In this means, the traffic model is composed of background routed traffic and background utilization traffic and application traffic, which can be completed with the tools in the network management system and modeling by hand. And the simulation model is validated on the OPNET platform in the end.

    It is well known that the increase in air traffic brings some negative connotations regarding delays, airspace capacity, air traffic controller workload, etc. To mitigate those problems, the European Commission has issued a development plan through the Single European Sky initiative, which yields a dozen solutions through the Single European Sky Air Traffic Management Research Joint Undertaking. Some of which is Free Route Airspace which enables aircraft operators to fly and plan direct routes through the airspace. Since this solution changes the way that the aircraft flies through airspace, different and new airspace routes have emerged. In this paper, the authors used fast time simulations with the PRU complexity model to observe how air traffic complexity was affected through Free Route Airspace implementation. It was observed that the increase in occupancy followed the increase in air traffic complexity, but not all results could be explained through the increase in the occupancy count. Also, to verify suspected claims the pre-FRA traffic from the 2016 was run on the FRA airspace and the reduction of complexity was observed. The authors concluded that the Free Route Airspace helped reduce the overall air traffic complexity, but further research and validation are still needed to concisely confirm those claims.

    Network traffic model is the base of network performance evaluation, network protocol design and network design. A traffic model correlative to time serial is given based on network measurement. Network traffic is forecasting under the traffic model. The data of experiment of network measurement shows that the traffic model has the advantage of more forecasting precision which is defined strictly. The traffic model is very suitable to practical operational networks.
