Abstract:
EUCOMMIA ulmoides is not only a famous medicinal plant, but also a most promising rubber-source plant in the temperate zone. All the individuals present in this species are diploid(2n=2x=34),and the objective of this work is to establish a novel triploid type of it so as to im-prove its overall biomass output or rubber content in the leaf cells by the characteristic cell en-Keywords:

Natural products has been occasionally used in place of growth regulators to control lateral root formation and growth of soybean sprouts. The study was done to measure the effects of treatment concentration of hard rubber tree (Eucommia ulmoides Oliver) leaf extract on lateral root formation, growth and morphological characters of the sprouts. Seeds of three cultivars, Pungsannamulkong, Sowonkong and Junjery, were imbibed for 5 hours into water, its 5 and 10% solutions immediately before 6 day culture. The cultured sprouts were classified into 4 categories to calculate their composition rates on the base of hypocotyl lengths; >7 cm (A),4 to 7 cm (B),

Contents of five secondary metabolites(bioactive constituents) in the leaves of Eucommia ulmoides in original and introducing regions were determined. The results were as follows: contents of secondary metabolites in the leaves collected from Zunyi(the original region) were higher than those from Yangling (the introducing region) while leaves collected from Luoyang region and Cili showed the lower contents of secondary metabolites than those from the intraducing region. These showed that Eucommia ulmoides from Luoyang and Cili could be introduced to Yangling, and further developed in the central plain of Shaanxi. Eucommia ulmoides from Zunyi, however was not suitable for the introduction.

Soybean sprouts presoaked to leaf extracts were on sale as taking a growing concern about wellbeing foods. The study was carried out to compare the effects of culture period after presoaking tea (Thea sinensis L.) and hard rubber tree (Eucommia ulmoides Oliver) leaf extracts on lateral root formation, growth and morphological characters of the sprouts. Seeds of three cultivars, Pungsannamulkong, Sowonkong and Junjery, were imbibed for 5 hours into 10% solutions immediately before 5, 6 and 7 day cultures. The cultured sprouts were classified into 4 categories to calculate their composition rates on the base of hypocotyllengths; >7 cm (A),4 to 7 cm (B),

【Objective】 The study aimed at isolating pinoresinol diglucoside(PDG)-producing endophytic fungi from Eucommia ulmoides Oliv.to identify the strain with the highest yield of PDG and to investigate the basic conditions for its growth.【Method】 Endophytic fungi were isolated from the surface sterilized bark of Eucommia ulmoides Oliv.and then, cultivated in liquid broth at flask level to test the PDG production. The strain with the highest PDG production was selected and identified based on the morphological characteristics and the sequence of rDNA in the ITS district.Basic growth conditions of the strain were also studied in aspects of temperature,pH,carbon source and nitrogen source by the single-factor experimental design.【Result】 Eighteen strains of endophytic fungi were isolated from the bark of Eucommia ulmoides Oliv.Only three of them had the ability to produce of PDG.The strain XP-8,with the highest PDG production of 11.65 mg/L,was identified as Phomopsis sp.It could grow in a wide range of conditions from 20 ℃ to 35 ℃ and pH 4 to 8 with the best growth at 28 ℃ and pH 5.The strain XP-8 could use glucose and maltose, but not malic acid, among the tested carbon sources.Sodium nitrate showed to be the most favorable one among the tested nitrogen sources, whereas aspartic acid could not be used at all.【Conclusion】 The PDG-producing endophytic fungi were isolated from Eucommia ulmoides Oliv..The best strain having the highest PDG production was identified, and the basic conditions for its growth were also studied.
