    This study is to present a new scheme for the detection of human meridian system non-invasively. The optical transport properties along the pericardium meridian and a non-meridian path about 1 cm away from the meridian were measured non- invasively on 20 healthy people in vivo. 633 nm, 658 nm and 785 nm red lasers were used for irradiation, and the diffuse light emittances at different points on meridian and non-meridian directions were collected respectively and compared. Our study suggested that the light propagation characteristics along both the meridian and non-meridian directions conformed to the Beer's exponential attenuation law. Statistical analysis of the results suggested that the optical properties of human meridian differ from those of the surrounding tissue ( p < 0.05), and the light attenuation is less when propagating along the pericardium meridian than along the non-meridian direction. These findings not only confirmed the objective existence of acupuncture meridians, but also shed new light on the understanding of meridians.

    The force of the load on the impeller and diffuser in the electrical submersible compression pump is analyzed in theory,related pressure and deformation for impeller and diffuser.The conclusion is that the deformed amount of impellers is different from that of diffusers in working place,and be verified that the location of impellers is different each other in diffusers along axis.Based on the working state analysis,and combined with implementation,the equations for calculating the length of the impeller hub are worked out,and emphasized that some important dimensions must be controlled in machining.It is testified that this method is effective and practicable by using in large quantities.

    Purpose : This study is to see the existence of the meridian and the meridian point through their response to the Young-Su-Bo-Sa. Objective and Methods : For this purpose, with acupuncture stimulation with Young-Su-Bo-Sa on the Hapkok of left hand and an the non-meridian point, and using the Digitai infrared thermal image(D.I.T.I), We observed and analyzed the thermal changes of Hapkok, Samgan, non.meridian point(NA), Yonghyang, Soryo, Chonchu, Shingwol. Results and Conclusions : To sum up, We could understand Young-Su-Bo-Sa stimulation through the study findings that the acupuncture stimulation on the meridian point caused significant thermal changes of the associated meridian and meridian point, and Young-Su-Bo stimulation given in the direction of the meridian passage caused increases in the thermal changes of the associated meridian point, while Young-Su-Sa stimulation caused decreases in the thermal changes of the associated meridian point.

    Abstract The methods of Taguchi have received considerable attention in recent years. Part of the attention is due to the success of Genichi Taguchi and his colleagues and part of the attention is due to the mystique and controversy surrounding these methods. In this paper we discuss two separate aspects of the Taguchi method: the strategy of Taguchi and the tactics of Taguchi. The Taguchi tactics involve the specific methods and techniques recommended by Taguchi such as the use of signal-to-noise ratios and the so-called Taguchi designs. We discuss the parameter design strategy of Taguchi for designing and improving products and processes from a statistical point of view. We point out that although there are some apparent flaws in Taguchi's tactics, the basic strategy is a sound one.

    The diffuser inlet width is a key geometric parameter that affects submersible pump performance. On the basis of diffuser characteristic curve analyses, diffusers with different inlet widths and the same impeller were equipped to construct a submersible pump model through the use of AutoCAD software. The performance curves of the submersible pump, with six diffuser inlet widths, were obtained using computational fluid dynamics method. Simultaneously, the simulation results were tested with the experimental method presented in this article. The results show that the optimum value of the inlet width ( b 3 = 50 mm) is larger than the experience-based one. With an increase in the inlet width, the optimum operating point of a submersible pump offsets to a larger flow rate. When the guide blade inlet width is approximately 40–55 mm, the submersible pump efficiency is relatively high, approximately 75.9%–83.7% capacity, and the flow rate is approximately 105–135 m 3 /h. The numerical results of submersible pump performance are higher than those of the test results; however, their change trends have an acceptable agreement with each other. The practical significance is supplied by changing the inlet width of the diffuser to expand the scope of use.

    Meridian theory is an important part of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Although acupuncture has been accepted in many countries, the nature of the meridian theory and the principles of acupuncture are still unclear in the modern scientific view. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in wave propagation of mechanical vibrations (optimal stimulator frequency of 40 Hz) through the pericardium meridian [EH-4 (Chieh-Men) and EH-5 (Chien-Shih)] and adjacent control regions in 20 subjects using hydrodynamic analysis. The mean transfer speed was significantly lower in the meridian (4 m/s) than in the adjacent control region (8.5 m/s, P<0.001). There were also significant differences between the meridian and control points in the attenuation rate (P<0.001) and peak amplitude (P<0.001). In conclusion, these results imply that the substance of the meridian differs from that of the adjacent control regions.

    Objective: To explore the relation and difference of meridian and vessel.Methods:Beginning with Tang Zonghai explained the meaning of meridian with aerification theory and distinguished meridian and vessel definitudly,anatomize two concepts,meridian and blood vessel′s meanings.Results:Meridian and vessel not only have relation but also have difference.Conclusion:in TCM the structure of Mai can corresponding with blood vessel in west medicine,but meridian is an aerification concept,is the path of gas and blood circulating.It not only comprises the function of blood vessel,but also comprises the tracks of other aerification movements in human′s body,therefore there isn′t special configuration to correspond with it.

    経穴委員会 (委員長山田鑑照) は米山博久が1952年に発表した「経絡否定論」の意義の大きさに注目した。賛成・反対のいわゆる「経絡論争」が約2年にわたり繰り広げられた。この論争関連と同時期の経絡・経穴についての基礎研究に関する文献を収集して整理・検討し、平成14年6月に開催された第51回全日本鍼灸学会学術大会 (つくば) のワークショップIIIにおいて発表した。これを集約して報告する。
