This paper summarizes the author’s three decades of research on China’s economy. Socialism achieved substantial economic gains in China, but at high cost. China’s unorthodox policy of gradual reform has produced an unexpected growth spurt. The author considers the implications of this experience for research on China’s economy and for the study of economic science. The paper concludes with reflections on “China-watching,” which the author sees as eroding the quality of China-oriented research.

This paper presents how the economy of China operates after China has entered into WTO, analyzes what influence WTO has on the economy of China, and predicts the trend of China's economic growth. The paper argues that in the short run the effect of China's entering into WTO on its economy is rather positive than negative; in the long run, provided that there is no sudden decline in the recovering of global economy and as long as China keeps its macroeconomic policies and adjust the policies properly, the economy of China will keep growing.

Leo Panitch and Sam Gindin's article "The Integration of China into Global Capitalism" argues that China will follow the pattern of post-war Japan to become a supplemental, junior partner in supporting US hegemony. They claim that due to the close trade and financial ties between the United States and China, there is no question of China challenging America's dominance of the global system (Panitch and Gindin 2013). This article will critically examine the premises of this claim, taking account of the post-war history of Japan; the measure of transition to market forms in China's economy; the role of trade; China's overall level of development; and the growth of the country's domestic corporations. The article focuses particularly on the level of China's domestic technology measured through Patents in Force (PiFs). It argues against Panitch and Gindin that China is poised to challenge Western dominance of the world economy.

This paper argues China through the establishment of special economic zones at the beginning of reform and opening up, as well as the formulation of "super national treatment" and other preferential policies to attract foreign investment. To now have a large number of foreign manufacturing enterprises' withdraw behind China's contrast, is a reflection of China's economy growing stronger, and is the inevitable result compatible with the "made in China 2025". This paper hopes to help some enterprises to correctly understand the phenomenon of foreign investment. This paper reviews the different historical periods under the different performances of China's policy on foreign investment to explore "made in China 2025" by the historic significance, but also shows good hope for the development of Chinese manufacturing industry.

Abstract A trade war between China and the US has been looming since March 2018, and effectively started on 6 July. A key to this dispute is the ‘Made in China 2025' plan, which aims to greatly improve the competitiveness of Chinese manufacturing industry and enable China to become the world's manufacturing powerhouse. This study examines the present state of Chinese manufacturing, including its size, structure and problems. It explains Made in China 2025, its background, and the chances of its success. It concludes that the importance of Made in China 2025 for the future of the Chinese economy means it will be very difficult for China to make substantial concessions during a trade war.

China has propelled towards joining the WTO for almost fifteen years since 1986, and, at last, it joined in late 2001. China's membership in the WTO is expected to bring about tremendous changes to the overall economic environment, structures of trade and industry, as well as her foreign policy. In this article, we will consider China's powerful economic growth by studying the performance and economic issues of its last 20 years, review the major changes due to China's WTO membership, which has notably become an important economic issue, and analyze the industrial competitiveness of Korea and China. Lastly, important suggestions for Korea's economic policy from the economic growth of China and future prospects will be extracted.
