Abstract:
In this Letter, we experimentally demonstrate an unamplified analog RoF distribution of 60 GHz 5G signals. The system entails the heterodyning of two optical tones from an externally injected gain switched laser (EI-GSL) based optical frequency comb to generate a millimeter wave (mmW) signal. A fixed frequency separation and a high level of phase correlation, between the EI-GSL comb lines, results in the generation of a high-quality signal. An active demultiplexer is used to filter and amplify two comb tones, thus alleviating the need for an external optical amplifier to boost the low power comb tones. Furthermore, the same demultiplexer is also used to modulate one of the tones with a 64-QAM UF-OFDM signal. Such an approach enables the remote generation of a mmW downlink data signal as well as an unmodulated RF carrier that could be used to downconvert the mmW signals to an intermediate frequency. Using the abovementioned scheme, we demonstrate the distribution of the downlink signal over 25 km of fiber, achieving a BER of 2.4e-3 (below the HD-FEC limit of 3.8e-3) and only a 0.5 dB penalty at the FEC limit in comparison to the BtB case.Keywords:

An integrated optical multichannel wavelength-division multiplexer/demultiplexer for a single-mode fiber system is investigated by the beam propagation method (BPM). Important wavelength characteristics of dual-channel two-mode-interference (TMI) multiplexer/demultiplexer waveguide with and without electrode are studied and general design guidelines for realizing multichannel multiplexer/demultiplexer are given. Design and simulation of four-channel TMI multiplexer/demultiplexer are discussed.< >

본 논문에서는 지상파 디지털 방송에 적용 가능한 MPEG-2 트랜스포트 스트림(Transport Stream)용 demultiplexer를 개발하였다. Demultiplexer는 MPEG-2 형식의 멀티미디어 데이터에서 영상부분, 음성부분, 그리고 데이터 부분을 분리하여 각각의 디코더로 전송하는 기능을 담당한다. 현재 대부분의 MPEG-2 transport stream용 demultiplexer들은 하드웨어 시스템으로 구성되어졌으나, 고성능 컴퓨터의 빠른 발전으로 인하여 소프트웨어적으로도 실시간으로 동작 할 수 있게 되었다. 개발되어진 소프트웨어 demultiplexer는 윈도우즈 환경에서 동작할 수 있도록 하기 위하여 COM(Component Object Model)기반의 Microsoft의 Directshow를 이용하여 filter형태의 소프트웨어 모듈로 개발하였다. Demultiplexer의 동작은 GraphEdit tool을 사용하여 확인하였으며, 이를 위해 MPEG-2 transport stream 형식의 테스트 파일을 랜더링 하였다.

A demultiplexer was developed on the basis of a waveguide plane made of fused quartz and intended for use in communication lines composed of fiber waveguides with a core diameter 50 μ. The dimensions of the demultiplexer were 19.8 × 20 × 0.014 mm. Aberrations of a spherical mirror were studied and partly suppressed so that the demultiplexer could be used in separation of 18 spectral channels in the wavelength λ = 0.74–1.7 μ. The total losses in the central channels of the demultiplexer were 3 dB and the cross-talk losses were 20 dB. It was found that the demultiplexer could be operated effectively using radiation sources with a spectral band not wider than 20 nm. The problem of the change in the aperture of the radiation emerging from the demultiplexer was analyzed.

A novel implementation of a demultiplexer in positive feedback source-coupled logic (PFSCL) style is presented in this paper. Two methods to realize PFSCL demultiplexer are described. The first one represents uses the conventional NOR based approach while the fundamental cell based approach is applied in the second one. The functionality of the proposed demultiplexer based on the two approaches is validated through using TSMC 180 nm MOS parameters. A comparison in the performance of the PFSCL demultiplexers is also performed in terms of various parameters. It is found that the fundamental cell based demultiplexer is better than the NOR based PFSCL demultiplexer.

This paper demonstrates a multiwavelength fiber laser (MWFL) using different types of semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) in conjunction with Lyot filter as comb filter. Three different SOAs were compared; linear, non-linear and booster optical amplifier (BOA). The multiwavelength generation using BOA had produced the best performance with extinction ratio (ER) of 52dB and peak power of -13.2dBm.

Analysis of the tree architecture of an 1∶4 demultiplexer and its specifics, detailed researches of 1∶2 demultiplexer in tree architecture and its latch structure are presented. The frequency divider is discussed, together with input and output circuits. The effects of the bonding are analyzed. The measurement results show that demultiplexer with the maximum data rate up to 10.58 Gb/s. The demultiplexer can work steadily at the required data rate of STM-16 and STM-64, which is the first report of bonded DEMUX IC to reach this level using standard 0.25 μm CMOS technology.

A 1:16-demultiplexer based on silicon bipolar 1:4-demultiplexer ICs, which include all requirements for system applications, has been designed and tested. The authors report the design of the 1:4-demultiplexer, which operates up to 14 Gbit/s, and experimental results for the 1:16-demultiplexer at 10 Gbit/s.

A study was made of the properties of fused single-mode biconical couplers fabricated in a high-frequency electric discharge. A multiplexer–demultiplexer was constructed for the first time with an interval of 1.5 nm between the channels, channel isolation of 20 dB, and excess losses of 0.2 dB. Continuous adjustment of the characteristics of this fused demultiplexer was possible.
