This paper examined the interrelation between social support and coping in a longitudinal study of 380 clinically depressed individuals. A two-wave, two-variable panel analysis revealed that connections between support and coping varied by gender and across the specific sources of support and modes of coping examined. In the family context, increases in support were related to increases in problem-solving coping among women and to a decline in emotional discharge coping among men. In the work context, increases in social support were related to a greater reliance on affective regulation among women and to more information/support seeking among men. Overall, the results suggest that specific aspects of support and coping processes jointly mediate the link between stress and adjustment among depressed individuals.

If someone has felt happiness then he will radiate that happiness to the people around him. He divided the stages of happiness into three categories: Lay level, Intermediate level, and Supreme Level. This division is not meant to distinguish the form of happiness but so that we can measure our level of happiness at which level. As for the factors that we must have to achieve happiness, namely: by having an honest nature and not hating anyone so that our lives become calm and can achieve true happiness.

Large-scale social surveys typically elicit levels of happiness and/or life satisfaction. This paper studies how such reports of happiness and life satisfaction are related to measures of positive affect (PA) and negative affect (NA). Major findings are the following: (1) PA and NA levels jointly predict happiness better than they predict life satisfaction. (2) PA levels predict happiness better than do NA levels. (3) NA levels predict life satisfaction better than do PA levels. (4) The PA items that predict happiness include those that predict life satisfaction (but not vice versa). (5) The NA items that predict happiness are distinct from those that predict life satisfaction. The study contributes to the literature by characterizing reported happiness and life satisfaction in terms of the specific positive and negative affects involved, thus clarifying their respective affective state content. Finding (4) is consistent with the mediator model of affective and cognitive well-being, according to which people in part directly rely on the affective component to judge life satisfaction. Our results are robust to several methodological strategies, but preliminary with regard to the small sample size (N = 144).

It is natural for human beings to pursue happiness, but there are some uncertainties about the nature of happiness and how we can obtain real happiness. Important views and opinions suggested by many ideologists in the history of thoughts are still of great values for our pursuit of happiness. The needs of humans or the nature of humans are the philosophical basis of the confirmation of happiness, which has determined the developmental path of human needs to be the developmental path of human happiness.

The Happiness Indicator ( https://www.happinessindicator.com ) is an online tool designed to make people more aware of their own happiness. The theory behind the website is that a keener awareness of one’s own happiness helps one find an optimal lifestyle and consequently promotes happiness among users of the website. In this paper, we describe this tool and explore its effectiveness. Users periodically record how happy they feel on the present day and how happy they have felt over the past month, using the Happiness Comparer. They also have the option of indicating in the Happiness Diary how happy they felt during the various activities of the previous day. Users receive instant feedback in the form of a comparison with their earlier scores and with the average scores of similar users. The website has been online since January 2011; 5411 participants have participated at least twice, and 64% of them used the Happiness Diary one or more times. These numbers are now high enough to permit a first check to see whether repeated use of the Happiness Indicator is followed by the expected rise of the participants’ happiness. We found that the use of the Happiness Comparer was followed by a small non-significant increase in happiness, while using the Happiness Diary was followed by a greater increase and statistically significant upturn. Using the Happiness Diary 10 times, was followed by an average increase in happiness of 1,5%. In addition, we found that the relationship between diary use and rise of happiness was particularly strong for those who felt less happy when they first used the Happiness Indicator.
This thesis is a study of Melville's liardi through the analysis on Taji's search for happiness through place settings. The writer intends to show how Taji searches for happiness through place settings and what kind of happiness he is searching for. In order to achieve her purpose, the writer uses literary approach, in this case, she uses two devices namely setting and character. In searching for happiness, Taji moves from one place to the other places. The first search is done in the old Arcturion, however the condition on that ship makes him feel dissatisfied. Therefore, he moves to Parki, Yet, the condition on the ship also makes him fail to find satisfaction. Then, he comes to the canoe and he finds Yillah there who gives him inner happiness, Un f o r tun a te1y, w hen he visits 0do, he 1oses Yillah, After a vain search for Yillah in Odo, he moves to Vivenza where he thinks he can find happiness there, In spite of finding happiness, he faces slavery which shows it is impossible to find happiness in Yivenza. At last, he comes to a perfect place, Serenia, The condition in Serenia promises happiness because people in Serenia live in happiness,, However, Taji still does not find his happiness in Serenia, It means that happiness which can be given by Serenians is not the happiness that Taji wants to possess. In other words, Taji's happiness is the happiness which is given by Yillah only. The happi ness which can satisfy his inner self and find his meaning of life. He does not feel happy before he finds Yillah. That is why, the fact shows that he still does search in the open sea.
