    A sample of 497 cases of Han in Sichuan Ziyang(male 220,female 277) was investigated on 5 tongue moving types,including tongue rolling,tongue folding,tongue twisting,pointed tongue and clover-leaf tongue.The results are as follows:(1) The frequencies of tongue rolling was 64.79%(male 65.00%,female 64.62%),tongue folding was 5.43%(male 5.91%,female 5.05%),tongue twisting was 19.92%(male 20.91%,female 19.13%),pointed tongue was 60.61%(male 55.91%,female 63.54%),clover-leaf tongue was 2.21%(male 2.27%,female 2.17%).(2) Comparing with other nationalities,Ziyang Han had low frequencies of tongue rolling,tongue twisting,pointed tongue.The frequencies of tongue folding was in the medium level,the frequencies of clover-leaf tongue was very low.(3) No significant sexual difference was found in the frequencies of tongue moving types.(4) The genes of tongue twisting and pointed tongue had interactive relations with the tongue rolling gene.The gene of tongue twisting had interactive relations with the pointed tongue gene.(5) The results of cluster analysis showed that the tongue moving types of Han in Sichuan Ziyang were similar with those of Mulam and Bouyei.

    Objective To acquire the brain fatigue symptoms reproducibility of tongue manifestation used in the diagnosis of brain fatigue. Methods Application of TLAG type tongue instrument with expert knowledge system and computer tongue features were extracted from the analysis and tongue microcirculation,observation of surface structure of tongue according to the diagnosed brain fatigue in 874 patients with systematic observation and analysis of tongue picture. Results Brain fatigue group tongue less spirit and non-spirit was 100%,pathological change in papillae of tongue was 100%,tongue texture change was 75. 74% and tongue shape change was 58. 55%. With the observation of tongue tip microcirculation,abnormal capillary form rate was 70%,blood stasis rate was 66. 66%. With the surface structure observation of tongue,abnormal papillae of tongue was 100%,widening physiological pattern was 63. 33%. The tongue color change in reference group was 100%,the tongue coating change was 71%,the tongue shape change was 68% and the tongue spirit change was 39%. Conclusion Brain fatigue change of tongue picture has a unique variation law: The tongue spirit and tongue papillae are the first,the tongue picture and tongue shape are the second.Compared with the reference group,the differences are obvious.     Cancer of the tongue is a type of oral cancer that occurs in the front two-thirds of the tongue. If cancer occurs at the back of the tongue, then it is a type of head or neck cancer. These cancers are extremely rare and occur in a small number of cases. Cancer in the front of the tongue also does not occur as often, but it is the most common type of oral cancer. Cancer of the tongue mainly occurs in squamous cells – thin, flat cells that are found on the surface of all soft tissues, and therefore the tongue. Cancer of the tongue is a disease that affects the front of the tongue, while cancer in the back of the tongue is called oropharyngeal cancer. Symptoms that indicate tongue cancer are pain in the jaw or throat, pain during swallowing, feeling that there is something in the throat, stiff tongue or jaw, problem with chewing and swallowing food, white or red stamps in the mouth or tongue, ulcer on non-healing tongue, pimples in the mouth, bleeding tongue and growths on the tongue.

    Abstract Three patients with paragangliomas of the head and neck region were referred to an oral and facial unit during a 16-month period. Because such lesions are rare, it was not initially considered in the differential diagnosis. This paper reviews these tumours and stresses the importance of including them in the differential diagnosis of a neck mass.

    To investigate the character of five tongue moving types of Han nationality in Hunan province,A sample of 507 student s of Han(268 males,239 females) was investigated on 5 tongue moving types,including tongue rolling,tongue folding,tongue twisting,pointed tongue and clover-leaf tongue.The results were as follows:(1) The frequencies of tongue rolling,tongue folding,tongue twisting,pointed tongue and clover-leaf tongue were 64.30%,10.26%,23.08%,64.50 % and 4.54 % respectively.(2) Comparing with other nationalities,Loudi Han had a higher frequency of tongue folding The frequencies of tongue twisting,tongue rolling,pointed tongue were middle.,clover-leaf's frequencies is lower.(3) No significant sexual difference was found in the frequencies of tongue moving types except tongue rolling and pointed tongue.(4) The genes of tongue rolling and tongue folding had interactive relations with the gene of tongue twisting.The genes of tongue twisting and tongue rolling had interactive relations with the gene of pointed tongue.

    The tongue facilitates the food to travel through the digestive system, it has taste buds so that we can enjoy the flavor of that food, and the tongue is largely responsible for speech. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relation of the Friedman tongue position with tongue movements. 322 volunteers (166 men, 156 women) who were studying at our university participated in this study. Horizontal and vertical lines were used to determine the tongue movements. Horizontal lines passing through the mid points of the upper lip and mandible, and vertical lines passing through the right and left infraorbitale were constituted on each subject. Subjects were asked to protrude tongue maximally and downward, protruding tongue maximally and upward, and protruding tongue maximally and laterally in sitting position. The scores corresponding to the movements of tongue were compared with the Friedman Tongue position.Both protruding tongue maximally and downward and protruding tongue maximally and upward were significantly different between Friedman tongue position  (p<0.001, p<0.001 respectively).The descriptions of tongue movements are very important. We conclude that the findings of this study will be a guide for other studies.

    A sample of 492 students of Zang(183 males,309 females) was investigated on 5 tongue moving types,including tongue rolling,tongue folding,tongue twisting,pointed tongue and clover-leaf tongue.The results were as follows:(1) The frequencies of tongue rolling,tongue folding,tongue twisting,pointed tongue and clover-leaf tongue were 84.35%,7.32%,32.93%,74.39% and 23.17% respectively.(2) Comparing with other nationalities,Zang had a higher frequency of tongue rolling,tongue twisting and clover-leaf tongue.The frequencies of tongue folding and pointed tongue were middle.(3) No significant sexual difference was found in the frequencies of tongue moving types except tongue twisting.(4) The genes of tongue twisting and pointed tongue had interactive relations with the gene of tongue rolling.The genes of pointed tongue and clover-leaf tongue had interactive relations with the tongue twisting gene.The genes of tongue folding and pointed tongue had interactive relations with the clover-leaf tongue gene.(5) The results of cluster analysis showed that the tongue moving types of Zang were similar with those of Korean,Han and Mongol.

    A sample of 372 cases Han(male 233,female 139) in Jiangxi Fengcheng was investigated on 5 tongue moving types,including tongue rolling,tongue folding,tongue twisting,pointed tongue and clover-leaf tongue.The results were as follows:(1) The frequencies of tongue rolling was 65.10%,tongue folding was 3.00%,tongues twisting was 19.40%,pointed tongue was 77.20%,clover-leaf tongue was 7.80%.No significant sexual difference was found in the frequencies of 5 tongue moving types.(2) The frequencies of tongue folding,tongue twisting,clover-leaf tongue were lower,and those of tongue rolling and pointed tongue were above South Asian type of populations and below North Asian type of populations in our country.(3) The results of cluster analysis showed that the tongue moving types of Jiangxi Han were similar with Bouyei and had the characteristics of the North Asian type.(4) Tongue rolling was correlative with tongue twisting and clover-leaf tongue,and twisting tongue was correlative with pointed tongue.The results showed the genes of tongue twisting and clover-leaf tongue had interactive relations with the gene of tongue rolling.The gene of tongue twisting had interactive relations with the gene of pointed tongue.

    The differential diagnosis of superficial masses in the head and neck is broad and encompasses both benign and malignant soft-tissue tumors. Certain superficial masses of dermal origin do not fall under the World Health Organization classification for soft-tissue tumors but, nonetheless, present similarly and should be considered in the differential. Although many of these superficial masses cannot be definitively diagnosed on imaging alone, recognizing certain imaging patterns and ancillary clinical features may help narrow the differential diagnosis and distinguish benign and malignant lesions. The present article does not aim to provide a comprehensive review of all superficial head and neck masses but rather helps to organize the more common masses by cellular origin and provides an overview of pertinent demographics or risk factors to aid in informed decision-making.Learning Objective: To generate a differential diagnosis of head and neck superficial soft-tissue tumors based on clinical history and imaging features
