Hallidayan grammatical metaphor can conventionally be dichotomized into ideational metaphor and interpersonal metaphor. The paper, based on grammatical metaphor, probes into theories concerning textual metaphor, then focuses on explorations on five typical realizations of textual metaphor in English such as Thematic Equative. It is found that the factual existence of textual metaphor proves that textual metaphor is an indispensable part of grammatical metaphor and coexists with ideational metaphor and interpersonal metaphor.

1.1 The notion and expression of possession Possession is a notion which seems simple at first, but is semantically complex at closer inspection. At its simplest, possession is the relation between a possessor and a possessed item, the possessum. The central type of relation seems to be one of ownership (permanent possession), but part-whole (inalienable possession), abstract possession, and other relations also fall under the domain of possession (Herslund & Baron 2001: 11).

Current research findings on metaphor in language and thought may be interpreted as producing a paradox of metaphor; that is, most metaphor is not processed metaphorically by a cross-domain mapping involving some form of comparison. This paradox can be resolved by attending to one crucial aspect of metaphor in communication: the question whether metaphor is used as deliberately metaphorical or not. It is likely that most deliberate metaphor is processed metaphorically (by comparison), as opposed to most nondeliberate metaphor, which may be assumed to be typically not processed metaphorically (that is, by categorization). This resolves the paradox of metaphor because it suggests that all "metaphor in communication" (all deliberate metaphor) is processed metaphorically. Detailed comments are offered on the notion of metaphor deliberateness and on the nature of a three-dimensional model of metaphor in discourse involving metaphor in language, thought, and communication.

This research was focused only to find metaphor in “A Walk To Remember” novel. The research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected from chapter 1 until chapter 6 of the novel. The finding of the research showed that there were 50 lines of metaphor which were classified into three types of metaphor, namely structural metaphor (36), orientational metaphor (9), and ontological metaphor (5). The most dominant type of metaphor used in the novel was structural metaphor (36). It means that the point of the novel was a description of imaginary art work of the author as if the events in the novel were literally true and really happening. In addition, the novel itself was a metaphor that providing structure and analogy to real world.

Abstract Craig S. Keener’s article “Spirit Possession as a Cross-cultural Experience” explores the phenomenon of invasive spirit possession in both early Jewish/Christian cultures and modern cultures. His cross-cultural approach makes use of anthropological data on spirit possession as a means to investigate the NT and Greco-Roman data on spirit possession. In this article, I take advantage of Keener’s research into anthropological resources on spirit possession. Whereas Keener’s research shows that early Christians experienced demonic and violent possession, I find that his research can easily incorporate the position that early Christians also experienced divine possession that produced inspired speech such as prophecy and glossolalia. The coexistence of divine and demonic possession could potentially be ambiguous and create schisms among different groups as to who was really divinely possessed.

As to whether the actor has the thought of illegal possession, we should Regard more on the actor’s objective behavior, also we should consider different factors ,and use the principles of the criminal law rationally .
