Abstract:
AimsCoV-19/SARS-CoV-2 is a highly pathogenic virus that is causing a global pandemic with a high number of deaths and infected people. To contain the diffusion of infection, several governments have enforced restrictions on outdoor activities or even collective quarantine on the population. The present commentary briefly analyzes the effects of quarantine on lifestyle, including nutrition and physical activity and the impact of new technologies in dealing with this situation.Data synthesisQuarantine is associated with stress and depression leading to unhealthy diet and reduced physical activity. A diet poor in fruit and vegetables is frequent during isolation, with a consequent low intake of antioxidants and vitamins. However, vitamins have recently been identified as a principal weapon in the fight against the Cov-19 virus. Some reports suggest that Vitamin D could exert a protective effect on such infection. During quarantine, strategies to further increase home-based physical activity and to encourage adherence to a healthy diet should be implemented. The WHO has just released guidance for people in self-quarantine, those without any symptoms or diagnosis of acute respiratory illness, which provides practical advice on how to stay active and reduce sedentary behavior while at home.ConclusionQuarantine carries some long-term effects on cardiovascular disease, mainly related to unhealthy lifestyle and anxiety. Following quarantine, a global action supporting healthy diet and physical activity is mandatory to encourage people to return to a good lifestyle routine. Keywords:

Abstract During the COVID-19 pandemic, international travelling has been altered. Thailand requires a 14-day travel quarantine for travelers entering the country. However, extra self-quarantine might be ordered by the local authorities, so the healthy travelers could be kept isolated and excluded from work or other responsibilities. We reported a male traveler who was unnecessarily quarantined for 30 days since he arrived Thailand. Based on a symptom and an antibody result, we also proposed the promising quarantine decision for international travelers in Thailand. Reducing the length of quarantine may make it easier for people to quarantine by reducing the time they cannot work. A shorter quarantine period also can lessen stress on the public health system, especially when new infections are rapidly rising. Surveillance of general outbreaks of infectious gastroenteritis was introduced in 1998 by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), in co-operation with the eight health boards. A total of 67 general outbreaks of gastroenteritis in Ireland were reported to the FSAI in 1998 and 1999. Over 1900 people were ill as a result of these outbreaks. Four percent required hospitalisation and there were two deaths. The duration of the outbreaks varied between one day and 38 days. Salmonellae (44%) and small round structured viruses (SRSV) (12%) were the most commonly reported pathogens. In 25% of the outbreaks the aetiology was unknown. The commonest settings were restaurants, hotels and take-aways, which accounted for 45% (30/67) of all outbreaks. Sixteen percent of all outbreaks occurred in hospitals and residential institutions. Over half of the outbreaks were reported to be foodborne, 63% of which were due to various serotypes of Salmonella enterica. Eggs were implicated as the vehicle of infection in 13% of all outbreaks. An infected food handler was identified in almost one third of outbreaks, although it could not be established if this had contributed directly to the outbreak.

This manuscript assesses the public's understanding of and trust in the CDC following its recent statement shortening the recommended time for isolation. Overall, reviewers feel that while timely, the preprint has a number of limitations, specifically in regards to sampling.

The global health emergency posed by the COVID-19 outbreak has affected millions of people. In the Philippines, among the establishments closed were schools which resulted in children and adolescents staying at home for more than two years under quarantine. Many studies were conducted focusing on the impact of isolation due to quarantine on people's physical

This study reports on a timely topic as recent studies have demonstrated that low trust in the CDC has implications for health beliefs and behaviors related to COVID-19.Many of the CDC's recent changes have been criticized by prominent scientists, policy experts, and health care professionals.Less is known, however, about how Americans perceived changing guidance on how long individuals must isolate and quarantine following COVID-19 infection or exposure. To answer this research question,

Objective To understand the characteristics of influenza-like illness(ILI) outbreaks in Yunnan province and provide evidence for the development of scientific and effective control measures. Methods The data of ILI outbreaks in Yunnan in 2009 were collected and analyzed Results Totally 72 ILI outbreaks occurred in Yunnan, resulting in 7 628 ILI cases. The attack rate ranged from 1.79% to 49.45%.The disease occurred all the year round with peak in Autumn.Twenty six outbreaks occurred in Zhaotong,Sixty eight outbreaks occurred in schools. The influenza viruses were isolated from the cases in 37 out of 54 outbreaks, including influenza H3N2 virus(in 12 outbreaks),influenza B virus(in 11 outbreaks),2009 pandemic influenza A(H1N1) virus(in 9 outbreaks) and influenza A(H1N1) virus(in 5 outbreaks). The interval between the finding of the first case and the response and the duration of epidemic was positive correlated.(r=0.896,P0.05).Conclusion More ILI outbreaks occurred in Yunnan in 2009 than in 2008,and 94% of the outbreaks occurred in schools. It is necessary to strengthen the ILI outbreak surveillance and reporting in schools and improve the sample collection and laboratory detection.

To separate and isolate the ill have been important goals in medicine, in cultural practices, and in the resulting architectural forms when faced with the urgent problem of infection in society. In history, the isolation settings that have been designed and built were almost universally well distanced from the daily life of the community. The lazaretto, the pesthouse, the monastery infirmary, and the fever hospital are early examples of architects answering the call of science (of the time) and society to provide that all-important separation and isolation. Buildings that were specifically designed to isolate and treat difficult diseases include the Paimio Hospital by Alvaar Alto in 1932 and the Saranac Cure Cottages, such as the 1915 Trudeau Sanatorium that addressed tuberculosis, the massive general hospitals of Europe in the late 19th and early 20th century, and the so-called plague hospitals in North America that resulted from an imperfect understanding of the worldwide influenza pandemic of 1918. As knowledge grew, and especially as the germ theory of disease displaced the miasma theory of disease, designers collaborated with the medical world to create life-sustaining health care environments that call on different approaches to prevent the spread of infectious disease.

To limit SARS-CoV-2 spread, quarantine and isolation are obligatory in several situations in Norway. We found low self-reported adherence to requested measures among 1,704 individuals (42%; 95% confidence interval: 37–48). Adherence was lower in May–June–July (33–38%) compared with April (66%), and higher among those experiencing COVID-19-compatible symptoms (71%) compared with those without (28%). These findings suggest that consideration is required of strategies to improve people’s adherence to quarantine and isolation.
