    The matching performance with the diesel engine and the reliability of ZN310A4 and ZN285A turbochargers are presented.Many kinds of effective measures are taken to improve the reliability of turbochargers.Two kinds of new products,ZN315A1 and ZN315B,are presented.The highest supercharging ratios of the two kinds of new turbochargers are all 4 3.They are suitable for 16V240ZJB、C、D and 12V280ZJ diesel engines.The platform test performance of ZN350A turbocharger developed for matching 16V280ZJB diesel engine is described.The latest result,ZN340 turbocharger with the highest supercharging ratio 5,is also promoted.

    For a 2-cylinder,4-valve per cylinder,turbocharged high pressure common rail diesel engine,the influence of different firing orders on turbocharger matching was studied,and the 360°CA firing order was selected.Considered turbocharger efficiency and engine pumping loss and the passenger car special requirement to meet both high and low speed performance,two turbocharger schemes were designed.On the basis of matching test results,optimization measures for the turbocharger were proposed.Final results show that the engine performance at low and middle speeds is improved,low speed torque increases by 8N.m,and specific fuel consumption reduces by 12g /(kW.h).Engine performance reaches the design targets and exhaust emissions meet EuroⅣemission standards.

    The fuel consumption,power,emission,air/fuel ratio as well as the pressure and temperature of intake and exhaust gas are measured and analyzed during the matching test of a diesel engine with two turbochargers.The diesel engine is of 6(cylinders),in line,water-cooled,turbocharging with intercooler,and direct injection engine for vehicle.The turbochargers have by-pass valves.When the by-pass valve opens earlier,the air quantity is greater in low engine speed and little smaller in high engine speed,the fuel consumption is lower and the power output higher in low engine speed,the fuel consumption and the power output are almost the same in high engine speed.This type turbocharger can meet the demands when matching diesel engines for vehicle.

    Charging system is used to increase the charge density. Supercharging system suffers from fuel consumption penalty because of compressor powered by engine output. Turbocharging system uses wasted exhaust energy that means compressor powered by exhaust turbine but has a turbo lag problem. The electrically assisted turbocharger which can eliminate turbo lag problem and fuel consumption penalty is the topic of this paper. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effect of electrically assisted turbocharger on diesel engine performance parameters. The AVL Boost software program was used to simulate the electrically assisted turbocharged diesel engine. Simulations results showed that electrically assisted turbocharger increases low end torque and improves fuel economy.

    The continuously increasing performance data of the modern diesel engines as well as the fulfillment of the very restricted emission standards cannot be realized without the aid of the turbocharger. Due to the prevalence of the turbo charged engines the customer’s attitude to the emitted noises has been changed. The customer wishes a high power output, but no longer wants to hear it. Thus the consideration of the noise characteristics during the development work is recently as important as the thermodynamic or durability issues. This paper deals with different turbocharger noises, describes its sources, transmission routes and possibilities of noise reduction.

    The matching of two-stage turbocharged system for a vehicle heavy-duty diesel engine was studied.Based on the requirements of product development,the high and low pressure stage turbocharger was selected.Using GT-Power software,the simulation model of two-stage turbocharged diesel engine was established,the full load conditions were simulated and calculated,and the influences of two-stage turbocharged energy distribution on diesel engine performance were analyzed.Finally,the test platform of two-stage turbocharged diesel engine was built and the experiments of external characteristic,universal characteristic and emission characteristic were carried out.The simulated and experimental results show that the two-stage turbocharged system can significantly increase the torque at low speed,improve the fuel economy,extend the operating area of fuel economy and greatly reduce the PM emission of diesel engine.

    Turbocharged passenger cars have been in use more than three decades. However, the behavior of the engine at low engine speeds is still unsatisfactory. Experimental work has been carried out on turbochargers aiming to improve the behavior of the engine at low speeds. For this purpose a turbine with adjustable guide vanes has been designed and tested. These experiments were done on a turbocharged 31 diesel engine from Daimler-Benz. Three different turbine nozzle blades have been designed and tested without using a waste gate. The results are compared with those of the Garrett-turbocharger T03 which was originally installed with the engine.
