    Abstract:
    Hybrid structure with electric cables and overhead lines are widely used in the 10 kV urban distribution network. In this paper, simulating conditions of the hybrid network are analyzed as an example, a fault simulation test platform combined of bare conductor, insulated conductor and insulators are established, the failure and the influencing factors are analyzed. The results show that: (1) the insulation damage of insulated conductors is the main reason of the line broken; (2) insulation damage will cause the vicious cycle of equipment insulation, which will causes the insulation damage of cable accessories, and then lead to the fault of the hybrid 10 kV distribution network. Aiming at the fault risk of the hybrid 10 kV distribution network, this paper puts forward some applicable countermeasures. The related research results can provide technical reference for the operation and maintenance of the hybrid 10 kV distribution network.

    Results of research on distribution of electric potentials on the earth surface in the territory with a grounding conductor are analyzed. It is shown that potential over the center of a square grounding conductor can be higher than that over the electrode. It is suggested to estimate the limit size of the cell of a complex net grounding conductor depending on the depth of its laying. It is found that a two-level design of the grounding conductor reduces touch voltage. Novelty of the results consists in application of a mathematical model to investigating electric characteristics of a two-level grounding conductor versus its laying depth.

    The shielding performance of a metallic building located close to a telecommunication tower hit by lightning is investigated. Two models of lightning strike are adopted for the shielding analysis. The first model includes the current distribution along the lightning channel while the second model is a surge current injected into the top of tower only. For each model the performance is evaluated both in the frequency domain and in the time domain. The analysis reveals that the electric shielding effectiveness is highly affected by lightning models whereas its magnetic counterpart remains invariable.

    In order to analyze the correlativity between the lightning flashover amount and the time factors, about 425 times lightning flashover on 187 lines in 10 power supply companies of 220 kV and 500 kV transmission lines during 2000~2007 are investigated in this paper. The correlativity between the lightning flashover amount and the time factors is analyzed. According to the lightning stroke accidents investigation records, the lightning flashover amount of transmission line increases from the year of 2000 to 2007. In each year lightning flashovers mostly happen in the month of June, July and August. Similarly in each day the flashover amount also varies with the time of day obviously. These lightning flashovers mainly occur during 14:00 ~ 21:00 in the afternoon. The analysis results in this paper have a good agreement with the meteorological observations. And these results provide good reference for the lightning protection work in power system.

    More people are struck and killed by lightning each year in Florida than any other state in the UnitedStates. This report discusses a couple that was simultaneously struck by lightning while walkingarm-in-arm. Both patients presented with characteristic lightning burns and were admitted forhemodynamic monitoring, serum labs, and observation and were subsequently discharged home.Despite the superficial appearance of lightning burns, serious internal electrical injuries are common.Therefore, lightning strike victims should be admitted and evaluated for cardiac arrhythmias, renalinjury, and neurological sequelae.
