First aid is a primary part in the medical system; however, large-scale medical centers are facing the dilemma of overcrowding. When the number of emergency patients increases over the allocation of manpower and equipment, emergency is likely to be overloaded. Such a dilemma might crowd out the resources for critical patients, seriously affect the emergency service quality, and reduce the morale of staff before the patients being safe. With system simulation, this study establishes an emergency simulation model aiming at the researched subjects to discuss the authenticity of present emergency room. Furthermore, National Emergency Department Overcrowding Scale (NEDOCS), the emergency compound standard, is utilized for evaluating the overcrowding degree in emergency rooms. Two strategies, proposed for improving the overcrowded emergency rooms receiving emergency patients, are also evaluated the effects on the overcrowding degree with NEDOCS. The outcomes show that the proposed strategies could actually improve the overcrowding in emergency rooms.

Objective Investigate the function and effect of emergency medical service system in trauma care. Methods The conditions of ambulance departure by 120 guiding center and trauma care of 25 emergency stations from July,2002 to June,2004 were analysis. Results The ambulance departure by 120 for emergency care was increasing. The ambulance could arrive the scenes within 8 minutes which the distance from the emergency stations to the scenes is within 5 kilometers.Trauma is the first reason for the emergency call. There were 25 emergency stations in Zhengzhou, in which one was inclusive station , seven were half-inclusive stations and seventeen were simple tape stations. Definitive operation could be performed for the severe multi-trauma in the inclusive emergency station which decreased the waiting time for operation. Conclusions emergency medical service system inclusive pro-hospital first aid, emergency care in hospital and emergency critical care. Emergency stations distribute at proper areas, which can provide sooner pro-hospital first aid. Transport the critical patient to the inclusive emergency station in a moment can increase successful resuscitation rate.

Taking into account the low degree of medical informatization in the emergency department and the particularity of the emergency work, we designed the information management system for the emergency department. This system consists of workstation of the emergency room, nursing station of the observation ward, doctor station of the observation ward, and workstation of the transfusion room. The development and employment of this system promote the informatization of the management of medical emergency and improve cure and administration levels of the emergency department.
