    Abstract:
In the face of increasing socio-economic and climatic pressures in growing cities, it is rational for managers to consider multiple approaches for securing water availability. One often disregarded option is the promotion of reforestation in source regions supplying important quantities of atmospheric moisture transported over long distances through aerial rivers, affecting water resources of a city via precipitation and runoff ('smart reforestation'). Here we present a case demonstrating smart reforestation's potential as a water management option. Using numerical moisture back-tracking models, we identify important upwind regions contributing to the aerial river of Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia). Simulating the effect of reforestation in the identified regions, annual precipitation and runoff reception in the city was found to increase by 1.25% and 2.30% respectively, while runoff gain during the dry season reached 26.93%. Given the city's population growth scenarios, the increase of the renewable water resource by smart reforestation could cover 22–59% of the additional demand by 2030. Building on the findings, we argue for a more systematic consideration of aerial river connections between regions in reforestation and land planning for future challenges.

In order to solve the conflict about shortage of water resources and socio-economic development in Guanzhong region of Weihe River basin, the water resources and available water resources were studied. Analysis the distribution laws and evolution trends of water resources , by calculating the available water resources of all district, summarized their distribution characteristic and the relationship with available ratio, and forecasted the other water resources using situation in future planning year. Finally obtain the conclusion that water resources of Guanzhong region were scarce as a whole, water resources and available water resources were uneven distribution.

The pattern of water resources management is an effective mode for improving water resource dynamic management, and offering technical support for water resource high-effective collocation and rational use.Based on the status and problems of water resources, the patterns of water resources management of ecological water requirement, water rights system, simulation model and water resources information system in Heihe river basin were analyzed and discussed. The trends of water resources development were prospected. It proposed that impact of human activities on water resources pollution, surface water and groundwater conjunctive regulation management and reasonable water resources allocation and integrated water resources management in basin scale should be studied in the future in Heihe river basin.

One of the most important objectives in the world is to improve rational water resources management methods. In this regard, the rational management of water resources and optimal water resources distribution, especially on on-farm systems, are considered very important. In this direction, given the negative consequences that have developed over the past more than 40 years in the lower reaches of the Amu Darya River, the need to improve the methods of effective management of water resources in the Aral Sea basin is urgent.
In the Inland River Basin, which the climate is arid, the water resources are scarce, the rainfall is exiguity, meanwhile water resources is wondrously invaluableness and the ecological environment is fragile. However, water consumption of industry and agriculture is not be limited, which causing many problems on water management, such as usage injustice on upper and lower reaches of basin, use inequality of other industrial and agricultural water resources. At present,it has been being one of important problems how to optimize and allocate water resources scientifically, make it sustainable and maximize its economic, social and ecological benefit. This paper takes Minqin as example which locates Shi-yang river lower reaches.By analyzing and studying present situation of the water resources usage,it proposes its supporting system which is suitable for optimizing and allocating water resources of inland river basin in Northwest of China in order to help sustainable use of water resources in the inland river basin.

The Haihe River is a river short of resources in the seven river systems of the nation. The inadequate water supply each year causes the amount of water resources to decline. However, the agricultural and industry is more developed in this area, the requirement of amount for water resources. The current situation of water supply and the problems of water resources exploitation are analyzed and the suggestion for the water resources pxploitation and management are proposed.

Based on explaining the situation of water resources in India, this paper analyzes India's water resources exploitation and utilization, discussed its existing issues in terms of water resources and water use,and then compares the water use indices between China and India. The results show that water resources in India mainly distribute in the Brahmaputra River and the Ganges River, and agricultural irrigation is one of the major water users. The main issues for India's water resources and water use are water shortage, water pollution, groundwater overexploitation and water use conflicts in transboundary rivers.India's water resources management is mainly in charge of the irrigation water use and cooperation with the neighboring countries to develop and utilize water resources of international rivers.

The fact that acute shortage of water resources in the Haihe River valley, serious water pollution,water-saving efficiency to be further enhanced,long-term over-exploitation of water resources and river basin water greatly exceeded the carrying capacity of river basin water resources has caused serious deterioration of the ecological environment.Through analysis of the contradictions between supply and demand of water resources,we further strengthen the unified management of water resources and promote optimal allocation of water resources, building a comprehensive water-saving society to ensure the sustainable use of water resources solutions.

An investigation of water resources in the Tanjiang River Basin shows that two problems occur in the river basin, i.e. the increase of water demand due to the development of the river basin and the reduction of water quality. It is pointed out that the research on the development of water resources in the river basin should give priority to the protection of drinking water sources and sustainable utilization of water resources. By analysis of the current situation, characteristics and some existing problems on the water resources in the river basin, some measures are proposed for sustainable utilization and optimal allocation of water resources.

The paper selects typical stations, calculates the average regional precipitation, establishes a calculation formula of natural annual runoff and calculates and analyzes the effect of precipitation variation to the runoff by utilizing the precipitation data of the region above Lanzhou, upper stream of the Yellow River and based on the basic features of temporal and spatial distribution of precipitation in the last 50 years and the relationship between precipitation of each station and natural annual runoff volume of Lanzhou Station. The results shown that the effect of precipitation variations in 1970s and 1980s to the natural annual runoff volume is not clear, while it becomes greatly notable since 1990s and the effected range reaches to 10%~20%.
