Abstract:
Ironstone ranges are considered hotspots for higher plants α and β diversity. The lack of studies and the intense degradation of the ironstone ranges, due to mining, motivated us to compile, for the first time, a list of vascular plants collected on iron-rich derived substrates from ancient landscape of south-eastern Brazil. All existing records in the Brazilian Virtual Herbarium of Flora and Fungi for each of the 43 municipalities containing ironstone ranges were downloaded, resulting in 17,954 vouchers identified to the species level. We found 2,933 species belonging to 160 families and 818 genera. For the first time, we identified 148 species mentioned in endangered flora official lists and 48 narrow endemic species. Collecting efforts must still be supported to properly sample the vegetation since, for 143 sites, less than 10 records/site were found. This dataset will assist with the indication of dozens of plant species whose threat criteria must be urgently assessed to subsidise public policies on the use and conservation of the Brazilian flora. Keywords:

The aim of this study was to compile and analyse information on local use of plants in Ethiopia based on data obtained from labels of specimens stored at the National Herbarium and from published volumes of the Flora of Ethiopia and Eritrea. Two families were considered: Fabaceae and Euphorbiaceae. Analysis of the herbarium data yielded a total of 116 locally useful plant species in Ethiopia. The highest proportion of plants (52%) was used for medicinal purposes. The study also revealed Acacia nilotica, Croton macrostachyus and Ricinus communis as having the highest use diversity. Further analysis of the Euphorbiaceae herbarium data demonstrated an increasing trend, with time, for collectors to incorporate plant-use information on specimen labels even though much of the records were found too incomplete to be considered useful. The study also revealed that the majority of plant-use information on herbarium labels was absent from the relevant Flora volumes. We, therefore, recommend that more thorough ethnobotanical investigations are conducted in Ethiopia to obtain more complete and precise data on the local use of plants.

Abstract Xuzhou is located in the northwest of Jiangsu Province, at the junction of the four provinces of Sulu, Henan and Anhui. It belongs to a warm temperate and semi-humid climate. Based on the field investigation in Xuzhou area, a total of 1037 species, 595 genera and 144 families of vascular plants were obtained. The flora has certain importance and particularity in Jiangsu area. Based on the analysis of the species diversity of vascular plants and their floristic characteristics and geographical components, it is found that there are a lot of vascular plants in Xuzhou, most of which are distributed in the world and north temperate zone, and the tropical distribution also accounts for a certain proportion, which shows that the flora is mainly the type of transition from tropical to temperate, At the same time, its flora also has some ancient elements.

Mt Zemenska has ample plant diversity, with strong participation of southern and steppe elements. The plant list contains 1354 vascular plants, which account for one-third of the Bulgarian vascular flora. They belong to 89 families and 482 genera. Magnoliophyta are the dominant group. More than half of families and genera of the Bulgarian Magnoliopsida and Liliopsida are present in the flora of Mt Zemenska. The indicator families for the North Temperate Floras assess Mt Zemenska's flora as North Temperate. Generally, Mt Zemenska has a transitional climate between the continental and the Mediterranean climate which explains the domination of sub-Mediterranean floristic elements.

In the paper a list and general characterization of vascular plants flora recorded on railway grounds of Łask is presented. The great diversity of habitats within the railway grounds as well as their readiness to accept numerous introduced species result in high variety of vascular plants there. This flora consists of 369 taxa.

Abstract We provide a quantitative description of the French national herbarium vascular plants collection dataset. Held at the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle , Paris, it currently comprises records for 5,400,000 specimens, representing 90% of the estimated total of specimens. Ninety nine percent of the specimen entries are linked to one or more images and 16% have field-collecting information available. This major botanical collection represents the results of over three centuries of exploration and study. The sources of the collection are global, with a strong representation for France, including overseas territories, and former French colonies. The compilation of this dataset was made possible through numerous national and international projects, the most important of which was linked to the renovation of the herbarium building. The vascular plant collection is actively expanding today, hence the continuous growth exhibited by the dataset, which can be fully accessed through the GBIF portal or the MNHN database portal (available at: https://science.mnhn.fr/institution/mnhn/collection/p/item/search/form ). This dataset is a major source of data for systematics, global plants macroecological studies or conservation assessments.

Abstract These notes extend a list of vascular plants (Wardle 1975) that mainly dealt with Westland National Park. They bring the recorded number of vascular plants in the region, represented by herbarium specimens, to 711 native species, 24 varieties, 32 hybrids, and 160 adventive species. Extensions of range, redeterminations, and changes resulting from taxonomic revisions are also noted. Most of the specimens are held at the herbarium of Botany Division, DSIR (CHR).
