Abstract:
With the advent of the era of big data applications, data storage backups are becoming more and more important, backup methods are flexible, backup contents are safe and reliable, and backup and recovery are simple and convenient. The backup method can be data backup, system backup, application backup, etc. The backup contents are guaranteed to be confidential, complete and effective. No complicated manual operations are required for backup and recovery.Keywords:

Many cloud services perform periodic database backup to keep the data safe from failures such as sudden system crashes. In the database system, two techniques are widely used for data backup and recovery: a physical backup and a logical backup. The physical backup uses raw data by copying the files in the database, whereas the logical backup extracts data from the database and dumps it into separated files as a sequence of query statements. Both techniques support a full backup strategy that contains data of the entire database and incremental backup strategy that contains changed data since a previous backup. However, both strategies require additional I/O operations to perform the backup and need a long time to restore a backup. In this paper, we propose an efficient backup and recovery scheme by exploiting write-ahead logging (WAL) in database systems. In the proposed scheme, for backup, we devise a backup system to use log data generated by the existing WAL to eliminate the additional I/O operations. To restore a backup, we utilize and optimize the existing crash recovery procedure of WAL to reduce recovery time. For example, we divide the recovery range and applying the backup data for each range independently via multiple threads. We implement our scheme in MySQL, a popular database management system. The experimental result demonstrates that the proposed scheme provides instant backup while reducing recovery time compared with the existing schemes.

Data backup is the last defense line to guarantee the high availability of data.Errors are easy to occur in the tape backup,as a result,it is difficult to complete the data recovery because of the damage in tape medium.The technique of disk backup is the one by utilizing disk array as underlying data storage,and making the disk array as a tape library by using a virtual software.Aiming at deleting redundant backup data,making sure the same data message saved only one time,decreasing the demand for storage,and holding more data with less space,the technique of data deduplication in disk could realize the significant improvement,obviously reduce the time of data backup and recovery,thus to meet the requirement of high-performance backup,and guarantee the restorability of backup data.On the basis of comparison between tape backup and disk backup,this paper introduces the data deduplication technique and its application in data backup system.

The ultimate purpose of data backup is the ability of retoring data as soon as possible when disaster happens.Shortening the time taken by restore is the essence of enhancing the performance and value of the whole backup system.Taking the thought of ultimate purpose of data backup,we organize and search backup data effectively by using a method of tape simulated and stratified organization of backup data and the stratified index mechanism on the basis of this kind of organization.By using the both two technologies,the performance of backup could be improved gradually when the size of backup data increase and finally comes to a stable state.The performance of restore is improved significantly while there is a little loss of performance of backup as the price,but when the size of backup data is increasing,this kind of performance loss of backup will descend,while the restore performance will keep stable,so the performance and the value of the whole backup system is improved.

Information system becomes an important part of production and life. Reliable data backup technology can ensure complete and rapid recovery of data after disasters. In order to solve the problem that a full backup needs to consume a large amount of space to store data, incremental backup aims to improve space efficiency, and only backs up data that has changed since the last backup. The traditional incremental backup method is to back up the data changed after the last backup. If there are too many accumulated incremental backups, you need to make a synthetic backup for the secondary increments. The data backup system designed in this paper is based on the incremental backup of the file system, and gives the database incremental data backup based on the Diff algorithm on the file content. The experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
