Abstract:
Intron length distribution (ILD) is a specific feature of a genome that exhibits extensive species-specific variation. Whereas ILD contributes to up to 30% of the total information content for intron recognition in some species, rendering it an important component of computational gene prediction, very few studies have been conducted to quantitatively characterize ILDs of various species.We developed a set of computer programs (fitild, compild, etc.) to build statistical models of ILDs and compare them with one another. Each ILD of more than 1000 genomes was fitted with fitild to a statistical model consisting of one, two, or three components of Frechet distributions. Several measures of distances between ILDs were calculated by compild. A theoretical model was presented to better understand the origin of the observed shape of an ILD.The C++ source codes are available at https://github.com/ogotoh/fitild.git/.Supplementary data are available at Bioinformatics online.Keywords:

The paper outlines a general framework for statistical legislation. The implications of statistical legislation for the whole statistical system, as well as for centralized versus decentralized statistical systems, are addressed. The general framework is spelled out by identifying essential components of statistical legislation. The paper illustrates how these components can be applied to different country situations, and it draws attention to a number of additional topics for discussion and areas for future study in statistical legislation. It also brings together summary descriptions of the statistical legislation of a large number of countries that underlie the derivation of the essential components. It thus provides a reference for countries considering new or revised statistical legislation.

Several statistical analysis models for estimating the sugarcane variety stability were compared in this paper using the data of sugarcane varietal regional trial in Guangdong province in 2009.The results showed that Finlay and Wilkinson regression model was easier,but both the analysis of the other two models were more comprehensive,and there was a bit difference between AMMI model and LR-PCA model.In practice,while the proper statistical method was usually considered according to the different data,it should be also considered that the same data be analyzed with different statistical methods in order to get a more reasonable result by comparison.

Based on comparison of retrieving foliar biochemicalcomponents with statistical,physical and their united models, the results show that physical model is better than statistical one in retrieving chlorophyll and water contents, and statistical model is better than physical model in retrieving protein and cellulose plus lignin contents. Three united models derived from physical model have increased the precision of retrieving protein and cellulose plus lignin content, but can not achieve better results than statistical model. As for different groups of samples are concerned, there are different effects in retrieving foliar biochemical components especially for statistical model.

At present,the phenomenon about the distortion of statistical data in China is so serious that caused the widespread concern of social public.This paper is mainly about researching the conflict of interest between data offerers and data inspectors during the period of statistical enforcement by use of Game Theory and Repeated Games.It reveals the cause about the distortion of statistical data from the point of view about the statistical enforcement and gives some corresponding countermeasures also.

A statistical atlas is created based on the average and variations of a set of data. Statistical atlases are found to be able to provide reference navigation models for the nasal cavity. An innovative method of constructing a statistical atlas that requires a short amount of time to execute, yet having a relatively high accuracy has been developed. This study examines the existing approaches to construct a statistical atlas of the human nasal cavity, as well as the suggested improvements. A statistical atlas that focuses specifically on the pathway from the nostrils to the nasopharynx has been created. The shape variations of this pathway can also be observed from the statistical atlas. For the purpose of this study, 47 sets of patient data have been analyzed. In the future, two separate statistical atlases for the different genders can be created.
