    Abstract:
Anthropogenic activities that happen in Terengganu River were contributed to sediment pollution at that area. The sediment pollution occurred when sediment are additional influenced with chemical adsorption between the metals, grain size, and organic matter. Thus, this study was conducted to assess the metal pollution using Enrichment Factor (EF) and Pollution Load Index (PLI) and compared with the previous study. A total of 15 sediment samples were collected from 5 different rives and metal concentration were analyzed using flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (ASS). The metal concentration ranged as followed: Cr (0.48-12.80 mg/kg), Cu (0.38-15.20 mg/kg), Mg (202.00-2769.00mg/kg), K (63.36-1730.00 mg/kg), Mn (4.27-33.70 mg/kg), Zn (2.05-31.30 mg/kg) and Cl (141.00-584.00 mg/kg) respectively. Enrichment Factor (EF) and Pollution Load Index (PLI) were used as a pollution indicator to access the sediment pollution in selected Terengganu Rivers. The mean Enrichment Factor (EF) value indicated in decrease order Cl (34.70) > Zn (23.44) > Cu (10.37) > Cr (1.95) > K (1.58) > Mg (1.16)> Mn (0.87). Meanwhile, Pollution Load Index (PLI) value showed below than 1 in all sampling stations. When compared with previous study, Mg and Cl metals need to take further action due to dramatically increased within seven years. The output from this study will be useful for environmental management at Terengganu Rivers.

The distribution of bioavailability heavy metals (Cu,Pb,Zn,Cd,Cr) in Baotou section of the Yellow River was discussed, considering the pore water in sediments. The results showed that the heavy metals are endowed with different bioavailability in the sediment cores by depth, and the pollution of heavy metals has been accumulated in the sediment by rates.Further, the direct hazard of heavy metals is less than the indirect hazard in the sediment.

Abstract Honey is a natural, sugary and sticky liquid that is produced from the nectars of flowers. This study aimed to analyze the concentration of some selected heavy Metals ( Zn, Cu, Mn, Cd, Pb, and Cr ) in honey samples. 1g of honey sample was digested by a hot plate using 9ml of HNO 3 and 3ml of H 2 O 2. The concentrations of the heavy metals in the digested were detected using a flame atomic absorption spectrometer. The results of this study found that the concentrations of the heavy metals in the honey samples were ranged from 1.97 to 2.04 µg/g for Zn, 1.93µg/g to 2µg/g for Cu, 0.83 to 1.01 µg/g for Mn, 0.25 to 0.45 µg/g for Cr, (0.025–0.031 µg/g for Cd. However, Pb was not detected in all honey samples. Hence, the levels of heavy metals found were below the permitted levels set by the World Health Organization. The contamination levels of the heavy metals are also found to be below the detection levels. The results of this study helped us to know that the acceptable amounts of heavy metals present in the honey samples. From the results, the levels of heavy metals found were below the permitted levels set by the World Health Organization. Thus, the heavy metals in the sampled honey are safe for human consumption in these selected areas.
Three kinds of heavy metals of Pb,Cd and Hg in 4 layers of the sediment from Chenhang Reservoir were investigated. The results showed that the contents of the three kinds of heavy metals in the sediment were decreased with the increase of depth. From the spatial distribution, the contents of heavy metals near the inlet of the reservoir were slightly lower, and those near the edge of the southern reservoir and in the corner area were slightly higher. The heavy metals in the sediment from Chenhang Reservoir were evaluated by the geological acumination index( Igeo),potential ecological risk index( PERI) and sediment quality guidelines( SQGs). Based on the pollution level and ecological risk from lower to higher, the sequence of the three kinds of heavy metals was Pb Cd Hg. The overall pollution level was slight, which had little impact on water quality.

This article, by means of biological toxicity tests, analyzes the feature of the bottom sediment poison pollution in the Dashahe River. Results show as follows: The Dashahe River bottom sediment has been to a different degree. The tendency of the bottom sediment poison pollution is essentially the same as that of the water body poison pollution. Besides, this article, with chemistry monitoring means, analyzes that the poison in the bottom sediment is mostly organic matter. Moreover, it proposes views and ideas of administrating the Dashahe bottom sediment poison pollution.

In this study, Çubuk 2, Kesikköprü and Asartepe Dam Lake, were investigated. A total of 60 sediment samples were collected and the concentrations of 10 elements (Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni, Mn, Fe, Co, Cr, Al, As) were determined. The obtained findings were compared to the limit values for the sediment quality guidelines (SQGs) and were investigated using sediment assessment methods. The results indicate that the values for SQGs revealed that the concentrations of Ni and As should be emphasised. Toxic unit (TU) values showed that As and Ni together constitute 69.95–80.09% of the total toxic effect alone for all lakes. In addition, the Contamination factor (Cf) and Enrichment factor (EF) detected the concentration of As for Kesikköprü Dam Lake as being at a medium and higher accumulation levels, although the Geoaccumulation index (Igeo) detected that As leads to contamination below the medium level. When the total element accumulation was evaluated, no risk was detected for the lakes. Cluster analysis (CA) revealed quite different elemental profiles for 3 lakes. The strongest correlation between the elements was observed for Cu-Ni (r = 0.942) in Çubuk 2, whereas Çubuk 2 was the lake with the highest seasonal elemental variation among the lakes investigated.

To investigate soil heavy metal pollution in different functional areas of Sixian City, 48 soil samples were collected in residential, industrial, green, and commercial areas. The concentrations of V, Cr, Zn, Cu, Pb, and as were determined by the geoaccumulation index method and the enrichment factor method, and their pollution levels were evaluated. At the same time, the possible sources of heavy metals were identified by the factor analysis method. The results showed that except for V, the concentrations of the other five heavy metals were higher than the soil background values of Anhui Province. The geoaccumulation indexes revealed that V, Cr, and as were free of pollution, while some sampling sites of Zn, Pb, and Cu were slightly polluted in different functional areas. Heavy metal pollution in different functional areas ranked as commercial area>industrial area>residential area>green area. Given the enrichment factor, V was pollution-free, and as was mildly enriched in all functional areas. Cr was slightly enriched except for the green areas; Zn and Cu were mild to moderately enrichment; Pb was mild to moderately enriched except for the green areas and the pollution in commercial areas was serious. The factor analysis showed that the large contribution rate of Pb and Zn in the first factor may be related to traffic; the second factor (Cr, Cu, and as) possibly come from electronics, metallurgy burning, and machinery manufacturing, and the third factor was a natural process. It can be seen that Zn, Cu, and Pb are the main soil pollution elements in the functional areas of Sixian City.
