Abstract:
Coptis chinensis inflorescence is traditionally used as tea and has been popular in the local market. C. chinensis inflorescence extract (CE) exhibits protective effects against carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced damage, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. The main chemicals of CE were detected, purified, and identified in this study. CE and linarin could reverse changes in cell viability, decrease alanine aminotransferase and aspartate transaminase levels, and reduce reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation induced by CCl4 in HepG2 cells. CE and linarin could also phosphorylate mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) and up-regulate Kelth-like ECH-associated protein (Keap1). The pathways of MAPKs and Keap1 lead to the separation of Keap1 and nuclear factor (erythroid-derived 2)-like 2 (Nrf2). Free Nrf2 transferred to the nucleus and enhanced the expression of phase II detoxification enzymes. This study provides a scientific basis for the use of C. chinensis inflorescence, which exhibits a hepatoprotective function, as a supplement in the food industry. Keywords:

Objective The paper reported some kinds of traditional Chinese medicine's inhibition to Enteropathogenic E.coli,O86:H2,like Coptis chinensis and Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, etc, including water extractions and alcohol extractions. Methods Choose Coptis chinensis 、Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi 、Fructus Forsythiae 、Allium sativum L、Rheum palmatum L.、Berberis vernae Schneid、Floslonicerae、Radix Pulsatillae、Sophora flavesens、Portulace oleracea L.,put these medicines into boiling water and ethanol, which have been obtained by successive extractions with ethanol, and tested these liquids' MICs and MBC.by broth dilution technique. Results Rheum palmatum L.、Floslonicerae and Fructus Forsythiae are almost no activities against Enteropathogenic E.coli, and the remaining seven kinds of Chinese medicine show a different antibacterial strength,Ccoptis chinensis、Scutellaria baicalensis Georg、Allium sativum L.are good at antibacterial activity. The MICs of Allium sativum and Coptis chinensis with extractions with ethanol are1.96 mg/ml against 2 strains of Enteropathogenic E.coli O86:H2,the antibacterial activities of Radix Pulsatillae、Berberis vernae Schneid and Sophora flavesens are second. Conclusion Coptis chinensis、Scutellaria baicalensis Georg、Allium sativum L.are bactericidal against Enteropathogenic E.coli, suggesting that Chinese herbal medicines may represent a new source of agents designed for inhibition Enteropathogenic E.coli in eradicated therapy.

Objective: By investigating the regulation of prescription-herbs on treating lung cancer in ancient literatures,to provide the new thoughts for the clinical diagnosis and treatment. Methods: The prescription-herbs were summarized from the ancient literatures by using methods of literatures research combined with statistic analysis. Results: Four factors which relected the treatment characteristics were extracted. F1: Radix aconiti, Dried ginger, Coptis chinensis, et al; F2: Tangerine peel,Balloonlower, et al; F3: Ginger, Glycyrrhiza, et al; F4: Lepidium seed, Jujube date; Four prescriptions were summarized, C1:Tangerine peel, Balloonlower, radix ginseng, et al; C2: Lepidium seed, Jujube date, et al; C3: Cinnamon and Evodia rutaecarpa;C4: Radix auckladiae and Areca catechu, et al. Conclusions: Lung cancer was a disease of fundamental deiciency and incidental excess, involving with lung, spleen and kidney. Deiciency of healthy qi, phlegm-dampness, qi stagnation, blood stasis and the others were the main characteristics of pathogenesis of lung cancer. Adopting diferent methods according to the characteristics of pathogenesis, including reinforcing the healthy qi, regulating qi, activating blood circulation, dispelling Phlegm and so on.

Purpose To screen traditional Chinese medicines using powerful antibacterial activity against methicillin-resisistant Staphylococcus aureu(MRSA).Methods The Chinese medicines with powerful antibacterial activity against MRSA were selected from 50 traditional Chinese medicines by Kirby-Bauer.The MICs of selected Chinese medicines with powerful antibacterial activity against MRSA were performed by agar disk.Synergetic antibacterial test of each two of the selected 5 Chinese medicines against MRSA were carried out by trace multi-well culture plates. Results 35 Chinese medicines had inhibitory effects on the strain of MRSA with varied extent in 50 Chinese medicines, among which were Coptis chinensis,Cortex Phellodendri,Rhubarb,Radix Stellariae and granatum.Furthermore,FIC index is 0.5 when Coptis chinensis and Cortex Phellodendri were in combined use. Conclusion Most of the selected traditional Chinese medicines have certain inhibitory effect on MRSA,in which Coptis chinensis,Cortex Phellodendri,Rhubarb,Radix Stellariae and granatum have powerful antibacterial activity against MRSA,and the combined use of Coptis chinensis and Cortex Phellodendri has the strongest inhibitory effect on MRSA because of synergistic effect, and it is the better choice in anti-MRSA Chinese medicines.

Objective The purpose of this study was to compare the inhibiting effects of four Chinese medicinal herb decoctions(such as Coptis chinensis Franch) on Enterococcus Faecals in the infected root canals. Methods A total of 84 single-rooted extracted human teeth were used in this study. The teeth were randomly divided into four groups(Coptis chinensis Franch decoction group,Schisandra Chinensis decoction group,Chinese rhubarb decoction group and Frucrus forsythia decoction group) and three control groups(FC group, negative control group, and positive control group).Every group contained 12 teeth. The E.faecalis infected root canal models were manufactured after normal root canal preparation and sterilization. The teeth of negative control group was not infected by bacteria, and placed in 0.9% sodium chloride injection. The other teeth were infected by E.faecalis and treated with different Chinese medical herbs decoction separately.Transmittances of each group were measured after 3 days and 7 days. Results There was no difference in the following comparisons,Coptis chinensis Franch decoction group(3 d) and FC group(3 d) comparison,Frucrus Forsythia decoction group(3 d) and positive control group(3 d) comparison,Frucrus Forsythia decoction group(3 d) and negative control group(7d) comparison,Chinese rhubarb decoction group(3 d),Coptis chinensis Franch decoction group(7 d) and FC group(7 d) comparison,Frucrus Forsythia(7 d) and positive control group(7 d) comparison,(P0.05).There were statistical significance in the other groups.(P0.05).Conclusions In the four Chinese medical herbs mentioned above,Coptis chinensis Franch,Schisandra Chinensis and Chinese rhubarb had inhibition effects on E.faecalis at different levels.Among the four Chinese medical herbs, the most powerful one was Coptis chinensis Franch, that has the same inhibition effects as FC.Frucrus Forsythia has no inhibition effects on E.faecalis.
