Abstract The lattice parameters of the non-superconducting Y1Ba2Cu3O6 have been investigated in a pressure range from 0 to 17 GPa at room temperature. Up to 17 GPa no anomalies could be observed. The bulk modulus was calculated to be 125 GPa. The linear compressibilities of Y1Ba2Cu3O6 are βa = 2. 0. 10−3 GPa−1 and βc=4.0.10−3GPa-−1. These results are compared with recent investigations of Y1Ba2Cu4O8 which show due to the doubled Cu-O chains a higher linear compressibility in c-axis direction and different linear compressibilities in a- and b-axis direction.
