Objective To investigate the influence of vitrification method on clinical outcome of human frozen-thawed cleaved embryo transfer. Methods In the in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer cycles, supernumerary embryos were cryopreserved by vitrification or slow-freezing sequencing method. The embryo survival rate, intact survival rate, pregnant rate and implantation rate were compared after thawing. Results In 248 vitrified embryo thaw cycles,746 vitrified embryos were thawed, and 643(86.2%) of them survived and 594(79.4%) of them intactly survived after the thawing. In 244 women,632 embryos were transferred, and 107(43.9%) of them got clinical pregnancy, the implantation rate was 26.1% (165/632).As to slow-freezing method,in 225 embryo thaw cycles,818 embryos were thawed,598 (73.1%) of them survived,436(53.3%) of them intactly survived, and 594 embryos were transferred in 225 cycles, and 74 (32.9%) of them got clinical pregnancy, the implantation rate was 15.2%(90/594).The embryo survival rate, intact survival rate, pregnant rate, implantation rate were higher in vitrification group than those in slow-freezing group (P < 0.05).Conclusion Vitrification is a more effective method of cryopreserving the human embryo than conventional slow freezing. Objective:To study the effects of age, ovarian stimulation protocol, fertilization method, culture time of the embryos and the transfer cycle on the result of human embryo cryopreservation.Meth-ods:The suitable embryos from in vitro fertilization treatment cycles were cooled down slowly. Then in several kinds of cycles, the embryos were thawed rapidly.According to the above factors, the patients were divided into several groups, and the results were compared. Results:Among the445thawed embryos from126patients,368(82.7%)survived and48(38.1%)patients achieved pregnancy. The age had obvious effect on the result of the cryopreservation of embryos, the pregnant rate declined markedly especially in patients more than35years old.Ovarian stimulation protocol, fertilization method, age of the embryos, and the methods to prepare the endometrium in the transfer cycles had no influence on the result after cryopreser-vation.Conclusion:Among the several factors, only age has influence on the result of the cryopreservation of human embryos.

Objective: To explore the effects of age, fertilization types, methods of embryos cryopreservation, and embryo frozen storage time on survival of frozen- thawed embryos. Methods: A total of 1 255 cycles of frozen- thawed embryo transfer were retrospectively analyzed, then they were divided into different groups according to age, fertilization types, methods of embryos cryopreservation, and embryo frozen storage time. The embryo survival rates, embryo complete survival rates, and clinical pregnancy rates in different groups were compared. Results: The embryo survival rate, embryo complete survival rate, and clinical pregnancy rate in vitrification cryopreservation group were 93. 4%,95. 9%,and 48. 8%,respectively; the embryo survival rate, embryo complete survival rate, and clinical pregnancy rate in programmed freezing group were 81. 2%,54. 9%,and 30. 1%,respectively,there were statistically significant differences between the two groups( P 0. 05). Age,fertilization types, and embryo frozen storage time had no significant impact on embryo survival rate and embryo complete survival rate( P 0. 05). Conclusion: Compared with programmed freezing, vitrification cryopreservation can achieve higher embryo survival rate, embryo complete survival rate, and clinical pregnancy rate; the impact of embryo frozen storage time on survival of frozen- thawed embryos within three years can be ignored.

AIM: To study the clinical application of transferring frozen-thawed embryos and to analyze the factors influencing the outcome of frozen-thawed embryos transfer (FET). METHODS: Eighty FET cycles in 63 cases from September 2003 to December 2004 were analyzed retrospectively. The suppernumberary embryos obtained from in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) were cryopreserved by slow freezing and rapid thawing method. RESULTS: Two hundred and sixty-nine out of the 392 thawed embryos survived, with an embryo survival rate of 68.62%. The pregnancy rate was 23.75% per FET cycle. The pregnancy rate was significantly higher in the group of transferring 3 embryos than that of transferring ≤2 embryos(30.91% vs 8%, P0.05). There was significant difference between the conceived and nonconceived cycles in term of the rate of cleavage integrality and the percentage of quality embryos (67.28% vs 60.09%, 89.09% vs 73.55%, respectively P0.025). CONCLUSIONS: The number and quality of frozen-thawed embryos transferred are the most important factors influencing the pregnancy rate after frozen-thawed embryo transfer.

Objective To investigate the factors affecting the results of embryo cryopreservation and the pregnancy results of embryo transfer following thawing.Method 22cases received embryo transfer following thawing in 24cycles under routine IVF-ET procedure. Results There were 4 embryo survived and 3 continously cleaved out of 5 frozen ones following thawing per cycles. The average surviving rate was 83.3% and continue cleaving rate was 84%.The average embryo score before cryopreservation, after thawing and tranfered was 8.2,8.0,7.5,respectively.No statistics differences of embryo score were found among the three groups(P0 05).The pregnancy rate after transfer arrived at 22.7%,and the clinical pregnancy rate per oocyte retrieval cycle increased from 28.9% to 31.7%.In this study, the embryo implantation rate was closely related with age of patient, embryo quality, and condition of endometrium. Conclusion The technology of embryo cryopreservation is an important supplement for human assisted reproduction technique. The successful pregnancy rate of embryo cryopreservation depends on embryo qualilty, adoptive freeze procedure, endocrine environment and the synchronism between endometrium and embryo development.
