    Abstract:
Selaginella doederleinii Hieron has been traditionally used as a folk antitumor herbal medicine in China. In this paper, the phytochemical components of the total biflavonoids extract from S. doederleinii were studied by using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray ionization quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (HPLC-ESI-QTOF MS/MS) in negative ion mode, and their in vitro and in vivo anticancer effects were evaluated. Four types of biflavonoids from S. doederleinii, including IC3'-IIC8'', IC3'-IIC6'', IC3'-IIC3''', and C-O linked biflavonoids were examined originally using QTOF MS/MS. The fragmentation behavior of IC3'-IIC3''' linked biflavonoids was reported for the first time. A total of twenty biflavonoids were identified or tentatively characterized and eight biflavonoids were found from S. doederleinii for the first time. Furthermore, the 3-(4,5-Dimethyl-2-thizolyl)-2,5-diphenyltertazolium bromide (MTT) assay and xenograft model of mouse lewis lung cancer(LLC) in male C57BL/6 mice revealed favorable anticancer properties of the total biflavonoids extracts from S. doederleinii. The results of this work could provide useful knowledge for the identification of biflavonoids in herbal samples and further insights into the chemopreventive function of this plant.

Biflavonoids are a category of naturally dimers composed of monomeric flavonoid, which have been most widely studied in recent decades for the swift progress of biflavonoids relative techniques. This article first reviews phytochemistry and bioactivities of biflavonoids. After the presentation new typical biflavonoids found in the past several years and semior or total synthesis of biflavonoids, the major pharmacological activeties of biflavonoids in the relevant researches were introduced in detail, which make a great contribution in chemical constituents studies of biflavonoids in future.

This study aims to obtain data on the phytochemical content of the methanol extract of Baringtonia asiatica. Obtain data on the phytochemical content of the B. asiatica clorform extract. This research was carried out in the Biology laboratory and Chemistry Laboratory, State University of Manado. The study consisted of extraction and phytochemical analysis using the Harborne method, the results showed that from the extraction process the highest yield was obtained in extracts with n-hexane solvent, then chloroform and methanol. The results of phytochemical analysis show that saponins are the phytochemical group with the strongest intensity found compared to other phytochemical groups. Furthermore, flavonoids were found in high intensity also in the analyzed samples.

5 Abstract: Phytochemical screening tests were performed first before bulk extractions. Phytochemical screening resulted in the isolation of new and novel compounds proved to be a leading candidate to fight diseases including cancer. Aerial parts of E prostrate, E. milii, E. hirta and E. helioscopia were used for phytochemical screening for the presence of different classes of secondary metabolites. The phytochemical screening revealed the presence of terpenoids, flavonoides and tannins which are given in Table (2-5). The IR spectroscopy of the crude extracts indicated the presence of OH, CH stretching saturated, C=O, C=C, NO C-N, Ar-O, C-O-, R-O-, 2, C-Cl Stretching respectively.

Two new biflavonoids, 4'-methoxydaphnodorin D1 and 4'-methoxydaphnodorin D2, along with six known biflavonoids, were isolated from the roots of Wikstroemia indica. The structures of the new compounds were determined by extensive NMR and HRESIMS spectroscopic analyses in combination with CD measurements.

Phytochemical exploration is an important step in the finding of bioactive composite present in medicinal flora. The Butea monosperma flower extracts and its solvent fractionates was subjected to preliminary phytochemical screening using standard phytochemical tests. The aim of the present study was to investigate the presence of phytochemicals. Soxhlet apparatus was used for the organic solvent extraction. These investigations revealed the presence of flavonoids, tannins, saponins, carbohydrates, terpenoids, phenols and glycosides in the flower of the plant extracts. The presence of various bioactive compounds confirms the application of B. Monosperma for various ailments by traditional practitioners. However, isolation of individual phytochemical constituents may proceed to find a novel drug.
