The study investigates the effects of pre-task planning time on both fluency, and accuracy and fluency of the participants' oral performance. The participants' performance has been transcribed and analyzed. The experimental group was provided with 5 minutes planning time before task performance whereas the control group was given a zero-planning time .As a result , the experimental group produces accurate language and fluency language input. The results of the study indicated that participants who performed the task under time pressure spoke significantly faster that those who had no time pressure during the task and the Participants with zero – planning time produced a greater variety of vocabulary than those who planned before the task. The pre –task Planning time reduces the processing load , helps learners to get goals and organize the content , reduces pressure to speak freely with self-confidence during the performance of the oral task , enhances the accuracy of the second language learner' production , concentrates more on form which helps to improve the accuracy of their second language production , and Planning time helps them to form and edit their oral production. The findings of the study are beneficial for English teachers , English designers and materials development.

The article deals with the relapse and maintenance of fluency skills in an adult stutterer following a "fluency-based" treatment programme. Recordings of speech were made at relevant intervals throughout an eight-month period. Immediately after intensive treatment, fluency was established and rate and attitudes normalized. The deterioration of these behaviours and their re-instatement is described.

This entry provides a review of oral reading fluency research in first and second language settings. The significance of oral reading fluency as a prerequisite for reading comprehension is discussed and the challenges unique to using oral reading fluency assessments among second language readers are explained. The entry summarizes current study findings on L2 oral reading fluency and ends with sample exercise designed to develop oral reading fluency.
The Approach of Fluency First has been one of the most popular teaching approaches, which focuses on the fluency of reading, writing and speaking and puts the fluency of reading in the first place while teaching. Therefore,in its teaching model the fluency is put ahead of the correctness. The approach can be effective in improving the students’ academic English aptitude for it arouses the students’ interest in studying English and makes them confident in writing. In a word, the Approach of Fluency First is popular with the students.

This article is concerned with the determinants of English language fluency among immigrants and the effects of fluency on earnings. Using special survey data on a sample of over 800 aliens, the analysis shows the importance of certain variables not previously available, speaking fluency at migration and English reading fluency. English speaking and reading fluency both increase with duration in the United States, and the increase with duration is greater for those with more schooling and who are not Hispanic. The article shows that reading fluency is more important than speaking fluency as a determinant of earnings.

Developing reading fluency in a first language (L1) is a topic that has received a considerable amount of attention. Developing reading fluency in a second language (L2), however, has received relatively little attention (Grabe, 2009). Anderson (2008) defines reading fluency as “reading at an appropriate rate with adequate comprehension.” For adult ESL learners, Anderson suggests a minimum rate of 200 words‐per‐minute (wpm) with at least 70% comprehension. Previous articles written on L2 reading fluency have focused primarily on reading rate development. This article seeks to combine rate development and comprehension development to effectively foster L2 reading fluency.
