    Abstract:
The Carl Nielsen Edition (CNU) was established in 1993 on the initiative of the then Minister of Culture in response to press polemics concerning the poor state of performance material for the opera Maskarade . The project was concluded with the publication of the last volume in March 2009. Prior to the CNU the dissemination of Nielsen’s music had been compromised by the generally bad state of the written music, either in the form of bad editions or no editions at all. The edition of all Nielsen’s completed works in 35 volumes has been prepared on a scholarly, philological basis and presented in a way that aspires to the highest possible standard. The edition now presents all Nielsen’s music for the first time, making possible a new and broader approach to the composer by scholars and musicians.

The paper mainly expounds that when we study Chinese words,we should properly deal with both the relationship between the theory of western philology and the practice of Chinese philology and the relationship between modern Chinese philological theory and the legacy of traditional Chinese philology,so that we can promote the improvement of the research on Chinese philology.

Nietzsche's Philology of the Present" discusses Nietzsche's views on philology as a critique of philological institutions and pedagogical practices. It argues that these dimensions have largely been ignored by scholars, who have instead focused on Nietzsche as a thinker concerning philological method. Nietzsche, however, understands philology and the philologist as fundamentally shaped by the discipline's pedagogical role, and both his criticisms and his hopes for philology are concentrated around its educative power. Recognizing this allows us to see that Nietzsche's philology constitutes a "philology of the present": it responds directly to the current state of philological education and practice, and it envisions philology, practiced rightly, as a solution to the ills of the present.

Around 1750, the word “philology” started to appear more and more often in English texts. To explain why, this article examines how writers of the time invoked philology and its derived terms. In today’s histories of philology, the time before 1780 is often a prelude to philology’s custodianship of language study in the nineteenth century and its transformation into the humanities; thus, philological practices prefiguring those later developments are thrust to the foreground. However, from the beginning of the eighteenth century until the 1780s, philology was about the origin and progress of any part of knowledge, a tradition this article ultimately traces to the literary history outlined by Francis Bacon in 1605. Missing from the history of philology as it currently stands, this once-prevalent philology of knowledge offers lessons for those who ponder the resonances between philology and literary studies today.

It is nearly a century since national opera began life in China. The Chinese national opera has been growing along two dimensions: one is the creation of opera on a national basis-using national music in the opera; the other is the composition of opera by referring to western opera. The progression of opera creation in China saw an obvious imbalance between the two dimensions. The former was very popular before 1980s,whereas after 1980s the latter has been developing quickly and gradually took over as the main trend of opera creation. This article is an attempt to inquire into the causes underlying the imbalanced progression.

Although the chinese philology has developed rapidly in recent ten years and more, still this subject has existed many questions, The chinese philology should both be regarded as a independent subject and a grade-1 subject which includes two grade-2 subjects, That is ,the chinese classical philology and modern philology. Each grade-2 subject includes a number of grade-3 subjects.Owing to the continuous appearance of the works of specialism philology, the historical philology which ever represented the entire chinese traditional philology became a thorough specialism philology. The mission representing the entire chinese traditional philology has been replaced by the Chinese classical philology.

The study of Hellenistic Greek, or of the Κοινή , which has flourished increasingly since the beginning of the present century, has brought Modern Greek more and more within the view of classical philologists. As I have insisted on utilizing Modern Greek for Hellenistic philology for about twenty years, I may claim some credit if a knowledge of Modern Greek is now admitted to be indispensable to Hellenistic studies; but philologists only reluctantly acknowledge this new demand, and hesitate to acquire as full an acquaintance with Modern Greek as the study of the Κοιή demands.

The article discusses the teaching of a number of subjects of classical studies - Latin and ancient Greek, ancient history and literature - by professors of the Demidov Higher Sciences School. The attention of P. G. Demidov to humanitarian subjects in the Athenaeum founded by him is noted (the official Latin name of the school was Athenaeum litterarum Demidowianum Jaroslaviense), as well as his personal invitations of classical philologists for teaching. The author connects the formation of P. G. Demidov’s interest to classical languages and to the sciences in general with his studies in Revel with Professor A. F. Sigismundi, about whom the article provides biographical information. The activity in Yaroslavl of classical philologists I. E. Sreznevsky, F. Schmidt and M. O. Khanenko, as well as A. F. Klimenko and S. A. Vilinsky is characterized. The content of speeches by S A. Vilinsky about the history and «successes of enlightenment» of the three ancient peoples - the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans is analyzed. It is concluded that classical studies at the Demidov School were originally an essential and very significant part of the formation of higher education in Yaroslavl.
