Abstract:
Microscopic understanding of interaction between H2O and MAPbI3 (CH3NH3PbI3) is essential to further improve efficiency and stability of perovskite solar cells. A complete picture of perovskite from initial physical uptake of water molecules to final chemical transition to its monohydrate MAPbI3·H2O is obtained with in situ infrared spectroscopy, mass monitoring, and X-ray diffraction. Despite strong affinity of MA to water, MAPbI3 absorbs almost no water from ambient air. Water molecules penetrate the perovskite lattice and share the space with MA up to one H2O per MA at high-humidity levels. However, the interaction between MA and H2O through hydrogen bonding is not established until the phase transition to monohydrate where H2O and MA are locked to each other. This lack of interaction in water-infiltrated perovskite is a result of dynamic orientational disorder imposed by tetragonal lattice symmetry. The apparent inertness of H2O along with high stability of perovskite in an ambient environment provides a solid foundation for its long-term application in solar cells and optoelectronic devices. Keywords:

In the crystal structure of the title compound, C 22 H 14 O 6 ·2C 3 H 6 O, 4,6-dibenzoylisophthalic acid is linked with two acetone solvent molecules by strong intermolecular O—H...O hydrogen bonds. Weak intermolecular C—H...O hydrogen bonds may be effective in stabilizing the crystal structure.

Abstract The ir‐spectra in the NH stretching region of Piv‐Pro‐NHMe and Boc‐Pro‐NHMe have been studied in carbon tetrachloride and chloroform solutions over a wide range of concentrations. Based on the concentration dependence of the NH stretching bands, it has been shown that the characteristic NH stretching band due to the C 7 intramolecular hydrogen bond is around 3335 cm −1 . Intermolecular hydrogen bonding also occurs to a small extent in these peptides, giving rise to a slight concentration dependence of the NH stretching bands. The band around 3335 cm −1 need not necessarily be due to C 7 hydrogen bonds alone as proposed by Tsuboi et al. or to intermolecular hydrogen bonding alone as proposed by Maxfield et al.; this conclusion is supported by studies on Boc‐Leu‐NHMe, which undergoes only intermolecular hydrogen bonding. We have shown that Z‐Aib‐Aib‐OMe and Z‐Aib‐Ala‐OMe form C 7 intramolecular hydrogen bonds in addition to C 5 intramolecular hydrogen bonds. The present studies also show that all the peptides studied exist in more than one conformation in solution.

The balance between intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonding is studied for a solution of methyl P-cellobioside in water and dimethylsulfoxide by ‘H NMR and molecular dynamics simulations. In water O(3) predominantly interacts with water molecules, whereas in dimethylsulfoxide it is intramolecularly hydrogen bonded to O(5’). The temperature coefficient of the chemical shift of the hydroxy groups appears to be a reliable indicator of intermolecular hydrogen-bond formation, whereas the exchange rate is not.

A theoretical study showing the importance of intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonding in the formation of self-assembled systems is reported. Arene-based species with appropriate functional groups to favor intermolecular hydrogen bonding are studied. It is found that molecular flexibility can create strong intermolecular hydrogen bonds within oligomers in which molecules are generally separated by large interplanar distances (see figure).

In the title compound, C14H10N2O2·2H2O, the water molecules are involved in hydrogen bonds and interactions. Intermolecular and intramolecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect the complex into chains along the a axis, whereas N—H⋯O intermolecular hydrogen bonds and C—H⋯O interactions interconnect these layers forming a three-dimensional network.
