Abstract:
Five caffeoyl conjugates were isolated from the ethyl acetate soluble fraction of Erigeron breviscapus (Van.) Hand-Mazz for the first time. Along with them, nine other chemical constituents were also identified. One new caffeoyl conjugate, erigoster A (1) with a novel basic skeleton was mainly assigned by the using a combination of two-dimensional NMR techniques.Keywords:

To study the flavonoids of Erigeron canadensis.The constituents of EtOH extraction from the whole plant of E. canadensis were isolated and purified by repeated column chromatography. These compounds were identified by their physical and spectral data.Twelve flavonoids were isolated and identified as quercetin-7-O-beta-D-galactopyranoside(1),quercetin(2), luteolin(3), apigenin(4),5,7,4'-trihydroxy-3'-methoxy flavone(5), quercetin-3-alpha-rhamnopyranoside(6), quercetin-3-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside(7), apigenin-7-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside(8), luteolin-7-O-beta-D-glucuronide methyl ester(9),4'-hydroxy baicalein-7-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside(10),baicalein(11),rutin(12).Compound 1 was isolated from the Compositae family for the first time. Compound 5 and 9 were firstly isolated from the genus Erigeron. Compound 3,4,7,8 and 11 were isolated from E. canadensis for the first time.

Objective To investigate the chemical constituents from the rhizomes of Polygonum su-ffultum.Methods Compounds were isolated and purified by solvent extraction,silica gel,polyamide,Sephadex LH-20,and macroporous resin column chromatography,and recrystallization.Their structures were identified on the basis of NMR spectroscopic data and co-TLC with authentic samples.Results Ele-ven compounds were obtained and elucidated as neohop-13(18)-en-3β-ol(1),neohop-13(18)-en-3β-yl acetate(2),hop-17(21)-en-3β-yl acetate(3),gallic acid(4),sitosterol(5),daucosterol(6),friedelin(7),chlorogenic acid n-butyl ester(8),myricetin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(9),chlorogenic acid(10),and 4-O-caffeoyl quinic acid(11).Conclusion All compounds are reported from P.suffultum for the first time except gallic acid(4),and this is the first report on compounds 1-3,8,9,and 11 from plants of Polygonum L.Compounds 1 and 2 are reported as natural products for the first time.

Seven triterpenoids have been isolated from the roots of Euphorbia nematocypha Hand-Mazz. through chromatography on 20% AgNO3-silica gel. One of them was identified as a new compound named nematocyphol on the basis of spectral data (IR, EIMS, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR). Its structure was deduced as IVa. Other compounds were identified as nepehinol acetate (I), germanicol acetate (II), euphol (III), tanaxastanol (Va), 24-methylenecycloartanol (VIa) and nepehinol (VIIa). These compounds were obtained for the first time from this plant.

To study the chemical constituents from the upground part of Erigeron breviscapus.The compounds were separated and purified by column chromatography with silica gel, and identified by IR, MS, NMR and 2D-NMR.Two new compounds were isolated and identified as 5,4'-dihydroxy flavonod-7-O-beta-D-pyranglycuronate buthyl ester(VI) and 3,5-dimethoxy benzene carbonic acid-4-O-beta-D-pyranglucose(VII).Compounds VI and VII were new compounds.

Two new compounds were isolated from the EtOAc portion of Erigeron breviscapus. By combination of physical constants and spectral analyses, they were identified as ( 1R,3R) dihydroxy ( 4S,5R) dicaffeoyloxycyclohexane carboxylic acid methyl ester(Ⅴ) and 1,4 dihydroxy ( 3R,5R) dicaffeoyloxycyclohexane carboxylic acid methyl ester(Ⅵ).

Abstract Erigeron breviscapus is an important herbal drug for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebral vessel diseases. In this study, phenolic compounds were extracted from the whole plant of E. breviscapus and analyzed by high‐performance liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. A total of 53 compounds were identified or tentatively characterized based on their UV and mass spectra. These compounds included caffeoylquinic acids (CQAs), CQA glucosides, malonyl‐CQAs, acetyl‐CQAs, caffeoyl‐2,7‐anhydro‐3‐deoxy‐2‐octulopyranosonic acids (CDOAs), caffeoyl‐2,7‐anhydro‐2‐octulopyranosonic acids (COAs), flavones, flavonols and flavonones. Most of them were reported for the first time from E. breviscapus and nineteen of them belonged to new compounds. The MS n spectra of CQA glucosides were similar to CQAs and they were discriminated by their retention times. No caffeic acid related ions (X , Y and Z ) were observed in MS n spectra of acyl‐CQAs compared to those of CQAs. Fragment ions ( 2,5 O − , 3,6 O − and 4,6 O − ) corresponding to ring cleavage were shown in MS n spectra of CDOAs and COAs, characteristic of this class of compounds. The 5,6,7‐trihydroxyl‐substituted flavones were dominant in E. breviscapus . Their [AH] − ions underwent the loss of a molecule of H 2 O, followed by the loss of CO, which was used to discriminate from other hydroxyl‐substituted flavones. Our results are the first comprehensive analysis of E. breviscapus constituents and will be helpful for the quality control of the herb of E. breviscapus and its related preparations. METHODS The constituents were separated and purified by using columm chromatography.These compounds were identified by their physical and spectral data.RESULTS Four compounds were identified as 5,6,4′ trihydroxy flavonoid 7 O β D pyranglycuronate ethyl ester (Ⅶ),apigenin 7 O β D pyranglycuronide(Ⅷ),apigenin 7 O β D pyranglucose(Ⅸ),kaempferol(Ⅹ).CONCLUSION Compound Ⅶ was a new compound.And compound Ⅹ was separated from this plant for the first time.
