    Abstract:
Ocular disease is relatively common in sarcoidosis and can be the initial clinical manifestation in some instances. In this study, we retrospectively evaluated the clinical and demographic features of 9 (1.74%) patients with lacrimal gland (LG) involvement out of 516 sarcoidosis patients who were followed up at our centre over the preceding 36-years. In addition, the characteristics of patients with LG involvement were compared to those of other cases with eye involvement and to other sarcoidosis patients. In 5 subjects with LG involvement, the chest X-ray was normal. The number of stage 0 subjects among other sarcoidosis patients was significantly lower than among patients with LG involvement (p<0.001). In 2 of these cases, the diagnosis of sarcoidosis was reached by LG biopsy. The mean age of patients with LG involvement was significantly lower than that of other sarcoidosis patients (p<0.001). Also, sarcoidosis-related organ involvement--other than of the LG--was more frequent than in other sarcoidosis patients (p<0.001).It should be borne in mind that LG involvement might be the initial manifestation of sarcoidosis and the chest X-ray in these patients might be completely normal.
Sarcoidosis is a multisystemic granulomatous disease of unknown etiology that usually presents with bilateral hiliar adenopathies, pulmonary infiltrations, and ocular and cutaneous lesions. The specific cutaneous lesions, or granulomatous, are produced in from 9% to 37% of patients with systemic sarcoidosis.Nevertheless, few patients have been described having specific lesions from sarcoidosis in the oral mucous membrane. We present 2 patients with systemic sarcoidosis who developed specific sarcoidosis lesions in the oral mucous membrane. The first patient presented a plaque on the tongue of a chronic nature associated with facial lupus pernio. The second patient presented a rapidly growing nodular lesion on the lower lip that was in fact the presentation sign of the disease.Although infrequent, oral lesions may constitute the first sign of systemic sarcoidosis. For this reason the oral mucous membrane needs to be explored when there is suspicion of sarcoidosis, and systemic sarcoidosis must be included in the differential diagnosis of oral granulomatous lesions.

Sarcoidosis is an idiopathic granulomatous disease with many cutaneous manifestations and a known predilection for scars and areas of previous trauma. We report the first case of systemic sarcoidosis presenting in only the black dye of a tattoo. The skin manifestations of sarcoidosis and the histologic differential diagnosis of granulomas are reviewed.

Sarcoidosis is a systemic disease that can be suspected based on cutaneous findings and confirmed using diagnostic testing such as biopsy and laboratory or radiographic studies. We report the case of a 66-year-old black woman with ichthyosiform sarcoidosis (IS) on the lower extremities. Ichthyosiform sarcoidosis is a rare variant of cutaneous sarcoidosis that is frequently associated with further internal involvement. We review this uncommon presentation of sarcoidosis along with other cases reported in the literature to determine the organ systems most commonly affected.
